Abstract

According to one embodiment, an illumination device, in which a plurality of light guides include a plurality of light guide pairs, each of the plurality of light guide pairs includes a first light guide and a second light guide, the plurality of light guide pairs are connected with their long sides opposed to each other, a plurality of laser light source elements include a plurality of first light source elements arranged to be opposed to a first side surface on a short side of the first light guide of the light guide pair, and a plurality of second light source elements arranged to be opposed to a second side surface of the second light guide of the light guide pair.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An illumination device comprising:
 a plurality of laser light source elements, and   a light guide, wherein   the plurality of laser light source elements include a first light source, a second light source, a third light source, and a fourth light source,   the light guide includes a first lower light guide, a second lower light guide, a first upper light guide, and a second upper light guide,   the first lower light guide has a first side surface and a second side surface which is a mirror surface,   the second lower light guide has a third side surface and a fourth side surface which is a mirror surface,   the first light source faces the first side surface, the second light source faces the third side surface,   the first upper light guide has a fifth side surface and a sixth side surface which is a mirror surface,   the second upper light guide has a seventh side surface and an eighth side surface which is a mirror surface,   the third light source faces the fifth side surface, the fourth light source faces the seventh side surface,   the second side surface and the fourth side surface face each other, and   the sixth side surface and the eighth side surface face each other.   
     
     
         2 . The illumination device according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the first lower light guide, the second lower light guide, the first upper light guide and the second upper light guide are rectangular, in a plan view.   
     
     
         3 . The illumination device according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the second side surface contacts with the fourth side surface directly, and   the sixth side surface contacts with the eighth side surface directly.   
     
     
         4 . The illumination device according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the second side surface contacts with the fourth side surface directly, and   the sixth side surface contacts with the eighth side surface directly.   
     
     
         5 . The illumination device according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the sixth side surface has a first end portion and a second end portion,   the eighth side surface has a third end portion and a fourth end portion,   the first end portion is in contact with the third end portion.   
     
     
         6 . The illumination device according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the second end portion is separated from the fourth end portion.
