Pipe and cartridge for a smokable media

Abstract

A pipe and cartridge for smokable media are disclosed. The pipe and cartridge can be used in combination as a pipe and cartridge system. The cartridge is configured to hold an amount of smokable medium, can be sealed on top and bottom to maintain freshness of the smokable medium prior to consumption, and has a side wall configured such that a space for heat convection is formed between the side wall and a side wall of a recess of a pipe. The pipe can include a body, a recess configured to hold the cartridge such that a space for heat convection is formed between the side wall of the recess and the side wall of the cartridge, a channel formed in the body and that extends from a bottom of the recess to a side wall of the body, and an optional lid.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A cartridge for a smokable medium comprising:
 a body comprising a side wall having a frustoconical shape and a bottom surface connected to a lower end of the side wall, wherein an access opening is formed in a top of the body such that the access opening exposes a hollow interior of the body, wherein a hole is formed in the bottom surface, and wherein the hollow interior contains the smokable medium;   a top cover placed over the access opening of the body;   a bottom cover placed over the hole of the bottom surface.   
     
     
         2 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , wherein the body further comprises:
 a lip connected to a top of the side wall of the body, wherein the lip extends radially outwardly from the body.   
     
     
         3 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , wherein the side wall of the body has a plurality of indentations formed therein. 
     
     
         4 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , wherein the plurality of indentations are dimples formed in the side wall of the body. 
     
     
         5 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , wherein the plurality of indentations are vertical indentations. 
     
     
         6 . The cartridge of  claim 3 , wherein the plurality of indentations are configured to increase a surface area of the side wall compared to the side wall having no indentations and a smooth outer surface. 
     
     
         7 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , wherein the body is made of a metal selected from aluminum, copper, bronze, zinc, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         8 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , wherein the smokable medium is a product obtained from a  Nicotiana  plant or  Cannabis.    
     
     
         9 . The cartridge of  claim 8 , further comprising the smokable medium. 
     
     
         10 . The cartridge of  claim 9 , wherein the smokable medium is a product obtained from the  Nicotiana  plant. 
     
     
         11 . The cartridge of  claim 9 , wherein the smokable medium is a product obtained from  Cannabis.    
     
     
         12 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , wherein the top cover comprises a plastic material or a metal material, and wherein the bottom cover comprises the plastic material or the metal material. 
     
     
         13 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , wherein the top of the body has a diameter in a range of about 1 cm to 5 cm and the bottom of the body can have a diameter in a range of about 0.5 cm to 4 cm. 
     
     
         14 . The cartridge of  claim 13 , wherein the side wall and the bottom surface of the body each has a thickness in a range of from about 0.01 mm to 1 mm. 
     
     
         15 . The cartridge of  claim 14 , wherein the hole has a diameter in the range 0.1 mm to 1 cm. 
     
     
         16 . The cartridge of  claim 1 , wherein the hollow interior is sealed from the atmosphere when the top cover and the bottom cover are placed on the body. 
     
     
         17 . A method for preparing the cartridge of  claim 1 , the method comprising:
 obtaining the body;   filling the body with the smokable medium;   applying the bottom cover to the bottom surface so that the hole is covered by the bottom cover; and   applying the top cover to a top surface of the side wall such that the access opening is covered by the top cover.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 labeling the cartridge with product and dosage information.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the smokable medium is a product of a  Nicotiana  plant or  Cannabis.
