Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for associating authentications and authorizations in connection with network interactions. An exemplary system includes a computing device configured to receive an authorization request for a network interaction from an acquirer, where the authorization request represents a transaction to a payment account and includes a transaction amount and an accountholder authentication value (AAV) indicative of a prior authentication associated with the transaction. The computing device is configured to determine whether the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or an interval associated with the authorization request satisfies a parameter. In response to the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or the interval associated with the authorization request failing to satisfy the parameter, the computing device is configured to append a tag indicative of the parameter to the authorization request and transmit the authorization request to an issuer of the payment account.

wherein the authorization request further includes a MCC; and wherein the at least one computing device is configured to determine that the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or the interval associated with the authorization request satisfies the at least one parameter based on the MCC associated with the at least one parameter being consistent with the MCC included in the authorization request.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a transaction amount; and
wherein the at least one computing device is configured to determine that the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or the interval associated with the authorization request satisfies the at least one parameter based on the transaction amount included in the authorization request and a transaction amount from at least one other authorization request including said AAV satisfying the transaction amount of the at least one parameter.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one parameter includes a number of transactions; and
wherein the at least one computing device is configured to determine that the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or the interval associated with the authorization request satisfies the at least one parameter based on a count of the authorization request and at least one other authorization request including said AAV being less than the number of transactions.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the at least one computing device is further configured to, in response to the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or the interval associated with the authorization request satisfying the at least one parameter, append the tag to the authorization request and transmit the authorization request to the issuer of the payment account, the tag indicative of the at least one parameter; and
wherein the tag appended to the authorization request further includes an indicator that the transaction satisfies the at least one parameter.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the tag appended to the authorization request includes an indicator that the transaction violates the at least one parameter.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one computing device is further configured to receive, from the issuer, an authorization response for the transaction; and
wherein the authorization response indicates validity of the transaction.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one computing device is further configured to transmit the authorization response to the acquirer computing device.

9 . A computer-implemented method for associating an authentication and an authorization in connection with a network interaction, the computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving, by a network, from an acquirer computing device, an authorization request, the authorization request representing a transaction to a payment account and including a transaction amount for the transaction and an accountholder authentication value (AAV) indicative of a prior authentication associated with the transaction; determining, by the network, whether the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or an interval associated with the authorization request satisfies at least one parameter; and in response to the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or the interval associated with the authorization request failing to satisfy the at least one parameter, appending a tag to the authorization request and transmitting the authorization request to an issuer of the payment account, the tag indicative of the at least one parameter.

10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , wherein the tag appended to the authorization request includes an indicator that the transaction violates the at least one parameter.

11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 9 , further comprising receiving, from the issuer, an authorization response for the transaction; and
wherein the authorization response indicates validity of the transaction.

12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising transmitting the authorization response to the acquirer computing device.

13 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium including computer executable instructions, which when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
receive an authorization request for a network interaction from an acquirer computing device, the authorization request representing a transaction to a payment account and including a transaction amount for the transaction and an accountholder authentication value (AAV) indicative of a prior authentication associated with the transaction; determine whether the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or an interval associated with the authorization request satisfies at least one parameter; and in response to the authorization request, the transaction amount and/or the interval associated with the authorization request failing to satisfy the at least one parameter, append a tag to the authorization request and transmit the authorization request to an issuer of the payment account, the tag indicative of the at least one parameter.
