Abstract

Purified air is provided, having a TVOC content of from less than 5 ppb to about 500 ppb, a Biologicals content of from less than 1 CFU/M 3 to 150 CFU/M 3 and a Particulate content of from about 1,000 0.3 μm particles per ft 3 to about 50,000 0.3 μm particles per ft 3 , or from about 600 0.5 μm particles per ft 3 to about 500,000 0.5 μm particles per ft 3 .

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An air purifier, comprising:
 a. a housing having an inlet for receiving a flow of source air and/or a flow of recirculated air and an outlet for exhausting a flow of purified air, the housing providing an air flow path for at least a portion of the flow of source air and/or at least a portion of the flow of recirculated air being purified from the inlet towards the outlet; b. an oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration adapted to receive at least some of the flow of source air and/or at least some of the flow of recirculated air; and c. a UV filtration adapted to receive at least some of the flow of source air and/or at least some of the flow of recirculated air, wherein at least a portion of at least one of the oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration and the UV filtration is positioned within the housing.

2 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein the air purifier is an in-room unit or a stand-alone unit which purifies in-room air.

3 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the housing is in line with the ductwork of a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (“HVAC”) system or an air handling unit (“AHU”).

4 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein the oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration is selected from the group: bonded carbon, loose carbon, and combinations thereof.

5 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein the oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration comprises one or more filters containing media selected from the group: blended carbon, KMnO 4 , other chemisorptive agents, and combinations thereof.

6 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein the UV filtration includes at least one UV source.

7 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein the UV filtration includes a plurality of UV sources.

8 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein the UV filtration includes at least one UVC source capable of generating UV radiation having a wavelength in a range of about 220 nm to about 288 nm.

9 . The air purifier of claim 1 , wherein the UV filtration includes at least one UVC source capable of generating UV radiation having a wavelength in a range of about 254 nm to about 260 nm.

10 . The air purifier of claim 1 , further comprising a particulate filtration adapted to receive at least some of the flow of source air and/or at least some of the flow of recirculated air, the particulate filtration including one or more filters selected from the group: HEPA filters, ULPA filters, MERV filters, and combinations thereof.

11 . An air purifier comprising:
 a. a housing having an inlet for receiving a flow of source air and/or a flow of recirculated air and an outlet for exhausting a flow of purified air, the housing providing an air flow path for at least a portion of the flow of source air and/or at least a portion of the flow of recirculated air being purified in a downstream direction from the inlet towards the outlet; b. an oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration adapted to receive at least some of the flow of source air and/or at least some of the flow of recirculated air; c. a UV filtration adapted to receive at least some of the flow of source air and/or at least some of the flow of recirculated air; and d. a particulate filtration adapted to receive at least some of the flow of source air and/or at least some of the flow of recirculated air, wherein at least a portion of at least one of the UV filtration, the oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration, and the particulate filtration is positioned within the housing.

12 . The air purifier of claim 11 , wherein the air purifier is an in-room unit or a stand-alone unit which purifies in-room air.

13 . The air purifier of claim 11 , wherein at least a portion of the housing is in line with the ductwork of a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (“HVAC”) system or an air handling unit (“AHU”).

14 . The air purifier of claim 11 , wherein the oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration is selected from the group: bonded carbon, loose carbon, and combinations thereof.

15 . The air purifier of claim 11 , wherein the oxidizing and adsorbing VOC filtration comprises one or more filters containing media selected from the group: blended carbon, KMnO 4 , other chemisorptive agents, and combinations thereof.

16 . The air purifier of claim 11 , wherein the UV filtration includes at least one UV source.

17 . The air purifier of claim 11 , wherein the UV filtration includes a plurality of UV sources.
