Transportation analytics systems and methods using a mobility device embedded within a vehicle
Abstract
A transportation analytics (TA) computing device may be provided. The TA computing device may include at least one processor and/or associated transceiver. The at least one processor and/or associated transceiver may be configured to: (1) receive, from a user mobile device, telematics data including an indicator that the user mobile device is communicatively linked to a transportation device; (2) identify each period that the user mobile device is communicatively linked to a transportation device as a trip using the transportation device; (3) store, the telematics data in a database in association with a trip identifier corresponding to the identified trips and a time stamp; (4) perform a lookup in the database to identify, based upon the timestamps, telematics data corresponding to a time period; and/or (5) calculate, based upon the identified telematics data, a premium amount for insuring the user during the trips taken during the time period.

A computing device comprising at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device and a user mobile device corresponding to a user, the user mobile device configured to communicatively link to a plurality of transportation devices associated with a transportation network, the at least one processor configured to:
gather, from the user mobile device, telematics data for determining a subscription amount for the user using the transportation network during a predefined time period and for insuring the user using the transportation network, wherein the user mobile device is configured to transmit the telematics data in response to the user mobile device being communicatively linked to a transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices; store the telematics data in a database in association with a time stamp and an identifier indicating which transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices is associated with the telematics data; calculate the subscription amount based upon telematics data corresponding to the predefined time period, the subscription amount to be transferred from the user to the transportation network; and cause the user mobile device to display the calculated subscription amount.
2 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the telematics data includes telematics data associated with more than one transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices.
3 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
compute a premium amount based upon at least one of the subscription amount and the telematics data; and transfer the premium amount from a transportation network account associated with the transportation network to an insurer account associated with an insurer.
4 . The computing device claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to transfer the subscription amount from a user account associated with the user to a transportation network account associated with the transportation network.
5 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of transportation devices include at least one of a motor vehicle, a bicycle, or powered scooter.
6 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the user mobile device is configured to be communicatively linked to the plurality of transportation devices via at least one of a physical coupling or a wireless coupling.
7 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
identify each period the user mobile device is communicatively linked to one of the plurality of transportation devices as a trip; and store the telematics data in the database further in association with a trip identifier corresponding to the identified trip.
8 . A computer-implemented method performed by a computing device including at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device and a user mobile device corresponding to a user, the user mobile device configured to communicatively link to a plurality of transportation devices associated with a transportation network, the computer-implemented method comprising:
gathering, from the user mobile device, telematics data for determining a subscription amount for the user using the transportation network during a predefined time period and for insuring the user using the transportation network, wherein the user mobile device is configured to transmit the telematics data in response to the user mobile device being communicatively linked to a transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices; storing the telematics data in a database in association with a time stamp and an identifier indicating which transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices is associated with the telematics data; calculating the subscription amount based upon telematics data corresponding to the predefined time period, the subscription amount to be transferred from the user to the transportation network; and causing the user mobile device to display the calculated subscription amount.
9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the telematics data includes telematics data associated with more than one transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices.
10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , further comprising:
computing a premium amount based upon at least one of the subscription amount and the telematics data; and transferring the premium amount from a transportation network account associated with the transportation network to an insurer account associated with an insurer.
11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , further comprising transferring the subscription amount from a user account associated with the user to a transportation network account associated with the transportation network.
12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of transportation devices include at least one of a motor vehicle, a bicycle, or powered scooter.
13 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , wherein the user mobile device is configured to be communicatively linked to the plurality of transportation devices via at least one of a physical coupling or a wireless coupling.
14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 8 , further comprising:
identifying each period the user mobile device is communicatively linked to one of the plurality of transportation devices as a trip; and storing the telematics data in the database further in association with a trip identifier corresponding to the identified trip.
15 . At least one non-transitory computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon, wherein when executed by a computing device including at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device and a user mobile device corresponding to a user, the user mobile device configured to communicatively link to a plurality of transportation devices associated with a transportation network, the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to:
gather, from the user mobile device, telematics data for determining a subscription amount for the user using the transportation network during a predefined time period and for insuring the user using the transportation network, wherein the user mobile device is configured to transmit the telematics data in response to the user mobile device being communicatively linked to a transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices; store the telematics data in a database in association with a time stamp and an identifier indicating which transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices is associated with the telematics data; calculate the subscription amount based upon telematics data corresponding to the predefined time period, the subscription amount to be transferred from the user to the transportation network; and cause the user mobile device to display the calculated subscription amount.
16 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable media of claim wherein the telematics data includes telematics data associated with more than one transportation device of the plurality of transportation devices.
17 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable media of claim wherein the computer-executable instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
compute a premium amount based upon at least one of the subscription amount and the telematics data; and transfer the premium amount from a transportation network account associated with the transportation network to an insurer account associated with an insurer.

The at least one non-transitory computer-readable media of claim wherein the computer-executable instructions further cause the at least one processor to transfer the subscription amount from a user account associated with the user to a transportation network account associated with the transportation network.
19 . The at least one non-transitory computer-readable media of claim wherein the plurality of transportation devices include at least one of a motor vehicle, a bicycle, or powered scooter.
