Abstract

A sound capture system can include a sound capture device configured for placement within a sound-generating device. The sound capture system can include a suspension system configured to suspend the sound capture device within the sound-generating device. The suspension system acoustically decouples the sound capture device from the sound-generating device. The sound capture device includes a plurality of transducers configured to generate a plurality of audio signals concurrently from sound generated by the sound-generating device. In another aspect, the sound capture system includes a signal processing circuit.

         48 . A system, comprising:
a sound capture device configured for placement within a sound-generating device; and a suspension system configured to suspend the sound capture device within the sound-generating device and acoustically decouple the sound capture device from the sound-generating device; wherein the sound capture device includes therein a plurality of transducers coupled to an interior of the sound capture device, the plurality of transducers configured to generate a plurality of audio signals concurrently.

49 . The system of claim 48 , wherein the sound capture device comprises a frame structure encompassing the plurality of transducers.

50 . The system of claim 48 , wherein the sound-generating device is a percussion instrument comprising a stretched membrane.

51 . The system of claim 48 , wherein the suspension system suspends the sound capture device within the sound-generating device using a plurality of flexible or stretchable cords.

         52 . The system of claim 48 , comprising:
a diffusor positioned below the sound capture device and within the sound-generating device, wherein the diffusor comprises a hollow body suspended within the sound generating device preventing the hollow body from contacting an inner surface of the sound-generating device.

53 . The system of claim 48 , further comprising:
a transducer assembly coupled to the interior of the sound capture device, wherein the transducer assembly includes a plurality of transducers suspended therefrom.

54 . The system of claim 53 , wherein the transducer assembly is rotatably coupled to the interior of the sound capture device.

55 . The system of claim 53 , wherein the plurality of transducers is suspended from the transducer assembly using a plurality of flexible or stretchable cords.

56 . The system of claim 53 , wherein each transducer of the plurality of transducers is, as suspended from the transducer assembly, acoustically isolated from the transducer assembly.

57 . The system of claim 53 , wherein the transducer assembly is configured to separate a first transducer of the plurality of transducers and a second transducer of the plurality of transducers by a distance that is greater than or equal to a diameter of a diaphragm of one of the plurality of transducers.

58 . The system of claim 53 , wherein the plurality of transducers includes a first transducer and a second transducer each implemented as a radio-frequency noise-canceling transducer.

59 . The system of claim 53 , wherein the plurality of transducers includes a first transducer and a second transducer each implemented as a humbucking microphone capsule having a moving diaphragm.

60 . The system of claim 59 , wherein each humbucking microphone capsule includes a primary coil and a secondary coil, wherein the moving diaphragm is attached to the primary coil.

61 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the transducer assembly is configured to position the first transducer and the second transducer with the secondary coils facing inward towards each other.

62 . The system of claim 53 , wherein the plurality of transducers includes a first transducer and a second transducer aligned along an axis forming an angle with a plane of a stretched membrane of the sound-generating device that is greater than 0° and less than 90°.

         63 . A system, comprising:
a sound capture device configured for placement within a sound-generating device; a first suspension system configured to suspend the sound capture device within the sound-generating device, wherein the first suspension system acoustically decouples the sound capture device from the sound-generating device; a transducer assembly coupled to an interior of the sound capture device, wherein the transducer assembly comprises a plurality of transducers; and a further suspension system configured to suspend the plurality of transducers from the transducer assembly.

64 . The system of claim 63 , wherein each transducer of the plurality of transducers is, as suspended from the transducer assembly, acoustically isolated from the transducer assembly.

65 . The system of claim 63 , wherein the plurality of transducers includes a first transducer and a second transducer each implemented as a humbucking microphone capsule having a moving diaphragm.

66 . The system of claim 65 , wherein each humbucking microphone capsule includes a primary coil and a secondary coil, wherein the moving diaphragm is attached to the primary coil.
