Abstract

Disclosed is a method of evening skin tone or lightening skin of a person. The method can include topically applying a composition to skin having uneven skin tone. The composition can include an effective amount of Pfaffia paniculata root extract, Ptychopetalum olacoides bark/stem extract, and Trichilia catigua extract to even the person's skin tone.

A method of evening skin tone or lightening skin of a person, the method comprising topically applying a composition to skin having uneven skin tone, the composition comprising an effective amount of  Pfaffia paniculata  root extract,  Ptychopetalum olacoides  bark/stem extract, and  Trichilia catigua  extract to even the person's skin tone. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein topical application of the composition reduces melanogenesis in the skin. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises water, butylene glycol, and PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is an emulsion. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is a gel. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is a serum. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is an aqueous solution. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein topical application of the composition reduces the overall melanin level in the skin. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises:
 wt. % to 5 wt. % of  Pfaffia paniculata  root extract;   wt. % to 5 wt. % of  Ptychopetalum olacoides  bark/stem extract; and   wt. % to 5 wt. % of  Trichilia catigua  extract.   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the skin having the uneven skin tone comprises a dark spot. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the skin having the uneven skin tone comprises an age spot.
