Abstract

The embodiments described herein generally relate to a system and method for joining a detachable fabric sheet to a cover through the use of one or more corresponding fastening or temporary joining mechanisms located on the cover and fabric sheet. In an embodiment, the cover includes one or more mechanisms to align and/or secure a filling material to the cover, as well as one or more fastening or temporary joining mechanisms for attaching the detachable fabric sheet to the cover. Methods and systems are provided for detachably joining the fabric sheet to the cover, for creating a multi-layer unit of a cover and detachable sheets, as well as for aligning and securing the filler to the cover. A method is also provided for manufacturing the integrated bedding cover system.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 16 . (canceled)

17 . A method for making a bedding cover system comprising:
cutting two panels of fabric of approximately equal size; securing the two panels together so as to create a combined fabric piece having a cavity therein, wherein at least three edges of each of the two panels are secured to each other; providing a filler material within the cavity; securing a first fastening mechanism onto the combined fabric piece; providing a fabric sheet; and securing a second fastening mechanism onto the fabric sheet, wherein the second fastening mechanism is configured to mate with the first fastening mechanism.

18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein providing a fabric sheet comprises providing one of a fitted sheet and a top sheet.

19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein securing the two panels together comprises sewing at least three sides of the two panels together.

20 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising an additional step of securing a fourth edge of each of the two panels together.

21 . The method of claim 17 , wherein securing a first fastening mechanism onto the combined fabric piece comprises securing one of a zipper half, button, hole, hook, and loop onto the combined fabric piece.

22 . The method of claim 17 , wherein securing a second fastening mechanism onto the fabric sheet, comprises securing one of a zipper half, button, hole hook, and loop onto the fabric sheet.

23 . The method of claim 17 , wherein securing a first fastening mechanism onto the combined fabric piece comprises securing the first fastening mechanism continuously along at least a first edge, a second edge, and a third edge of a bottom side of the combined fabric piece.

24 . The method of claim 17 , wherein securing a second fastening mechanism onto the fabric sheet comprises securing the second fastening mechanism continuously along at least a first edge, a second edge, and a third edge of a top side of the fabric sheet.

25 . The method of claim 17 , further comprises affixing pockets to each corner within the cavity.

         26 . A bedding cover comprising:
a top fabric sheet and a bottom fabric sheet, wherein the bedding cover envelops a filling material between the top fabric sheet and the bottom fabric sheet, wherein the top fabric sheet and the bottom fabric sheet are affixed to each other along at least three edges; a third fabric sheet; a first fastening mechanism, wherein the first fastening mechanism is secured along at least a first edge, a second edge, and a third edge of the bottom fabric sheet of the bedding cover; and a second fastening mechanism, wherein the second fastening mechanism is secured along a corresponding first edge, second edge, and third edge of the third fabric sheet to form a combined bedding system, wherein the combined bedding system is configured to lay on top of a mattress and enclose at least a portion of the mattress.

27 . The bedding cover of claim 26 , wherein the filling material comprises one of a comforter, blanket and feathers.

28 . The bedding cover of claim 26 , wherein the first fastening mechanism is a first part of a zipper and the second fastening mechanism is a second part of the zipper.

29 . The bedding cover of claim 26 , wherein an inside portion of the bedding cover has four corners, and wherein each of the four corners has a pocket.

30 . The bedding cover of claim 26 , wherein the first fastening mechanism comprises one or more buttons, and the second fastening mechanism comprises one or more slits.

31 . The bedding cover of claim 26 , wherein the first fastening mechanism comprises one or more snaps, and the second fastening mechanism comprises one or more snap connectors.
