Abstract

The present disclosure relates to support members for brassieres and other clothing. The support member may be manufactured by additive manufacturing, subtractive manufacturing methods, and injection molding, among others. The support member may include a thickness gradient devised to support a breast or other part of the anatomy. The support member may be customized to the anatomy of a particular user. The support member may include one or more biometric sensors.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method comprising:
 (a) producing a polymer-based graticulate support member, wherein, as produced, the polymer-based graticulate support member comprises:
 (i) an outer perimeter;
(ii) an angled arrangement of interlacing members within the outer perimeter; and
(iii) a plurality of voids at least partially defined by the interlacing members; and
   (b) inserting the polymer-based graticulate support member into a garment.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the producing comprises additive manufacturing.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the producing comprises subtractive manufacturing.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the subtractive manufacturing comprises at least one of cutting, carving, milling, drilling, and laser cutting of a precursor material.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the producing comprises injection molding.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the garment is a female garment.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the garment is a male garment.

         8 . A garment comprising:
a support portion configured to support anatomy of a wearer of the garment; a polymer-based graticulate support member disposed within the support portion, wherein the polymer-based graticulate support member comprises an outer perimeter, an angled arrangement of interlacing members within the outer perimeter, and a plurality of voids at least partially defined by the interlacing members.

9 . The garment of claim 8 , wherein the outer perimeter of the polymer-based graticulate support member is in the shape of an eye, an anchor, a cross or a hook.

10 . The garment of claim 8 , wherein the polymer-based graticulate support member is non-symmetrical.

11 . The garment of claim 8 , wherein the garment is a brassiere.

12 . The garment of claim 8 , wherein the garment is a male athletic garment.
