Abstract

Disclosed are a communication technique for merging, with an IoT technology, a communication system for supporting a data transmission rate higher than that of a 4G system, and a system therefor. A method performed by a UE includes receiving, from a base station, first configuration information configuring a first CSI report, wherein the first configuration information indicates to use a first synchronization signal for channel measurement for the first CSI report; obtaining the first CSI report based on the first configuration information; and transmitting the first CSI report to the base station. The first CSI report includes first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal based on the first configuration information, the first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal includes an SINR associated with the first synchronization signal, and the SINR associated with the first synchronization signal corresponds to a wideband

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a communication system, the method comprising:
 receiving, from a base station, first configuration information configuring a first channel state information (CSI) report, wherein the first configuration information indicates to use a first synchronization signal for channel measurement for the first CSI report;   obtaining the first CSI report based on the first configuration information; and   transmitting the first CSI report to the base station,   wherein the first CSI report includes first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal based on the first configuration information,   wherein the first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal includes a signal-to-noise and interference ratio (SINR) associated with the first synchronization signal, and   wherein the SINR associated with the first synchronization signal corresponds to a wideband.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein a single antenna port is defined for the first synchronization signal and a physical channel associated with the first synchronization signal is received based on the single antenna port. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first configuration information includes a cell index associated with the first synchronization signal. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving, from the base station, second configuration information configuration a second CSI report, wherein the second configuration information indicates to use a second synchronization signal for channel measurement for the second CSI report;   obtaining the second CSI report based on the second configuration information; and   transmitting the second CSI report to the base station,   wherein the second CSI report includes second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal based on the second configuration information,   wherein the second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal includes a reference signal received power (RSRP) associated with the second synchronization signal, and   wherein the RSRP associated with the second synchronization signal corresponds to the wideband.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving, from the base station, third configuration information configuring a third CSI report, wherein the third configuration information indicates to use a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) for channel measurement for the third CSI report;   obtaining the third CSI report based on the third configuration information; and   transmitting the third CSI report to the base station,   wherein the third CSI report includes third CSI associated with the CSI-RS based on the third configuration information, and   wherein the third CSI associated with the CSI-RS includes at least one of a channel quality indicator (CQI), a rank indicator (RI), or a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) associated with the CSI-RS.   
     
     
         6 . A method performed by a base station in a communication system, the method comprising:
 transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), first configuration information configuring a first channel state information (CSI) report, wherein the first configuration information indicates to use a first synchronization signal for channel measurement for the first CSI report; and   receiving, from the UE, the first CSI report obtained based on the first configuration information,   wherein the first CSI report includes first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal based on the first configuration information,   wherein the first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal includes a signal-to-noise and interference ratio (SINR) associated with the first synchronization signal, and   wherein the SINR associated with the first synchronization signal corresponds to a wideband.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein a single antenna port is defined for the first synchronization signal and a physical channel associated with the first synchronization signal is received based on the single antenna port. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the first configuration information includes a cell index associated with the first synchronization signal. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising:
 transmitting, to the UE, second configuration information configuration a second CSI report, wherein the second configuration information indicates to use a second synchronization signal for channel measurement for the second CSI report; and   receiving, from the UE, the second CSI report obtained based on the second configuration information,   wherein the second CSI report includes second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal based on the second configuration information,   wherein the second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal includes a reference signal received power (RSRP) associated with the second synchronization signal, and   wherein the RSRP associated with the second synchronization signal corresponds to the wideband.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising:
 transmitting, to the UE, third configuration information configuring a third CSI report, wherein the third configuration information indicates to use a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) for channel measurement for the third CSI report; and   receiving, from the UE, the third CSI report obtained based on the third configuration information,   wherein the third CSI report includes third CSI associated with the CSI-RS based on the third configuration information, and   wherein the third CSI associated with the CSI-RS includes at least one of a channel quality indicator (CQI), a rank indicator (RI), or a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) associated with the CSI-RS.   
     
     
         11 . A user equipment (UE) in a communication system, the UE comprising:
 a transceiver; and   a controller configured to:
 receive, from a base station, first configuration information configuring a first channel state information (CSI) report, wherein the first configuration information indicates to use a first synchronization signal for channel measurement for the first CSI report, 
 obtain the first CSI report based on the first configuration information, and 
 transmit the first CSI report to the base station, 
   wherein the first CSI report includes first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal based on the first configuration information,   wherein the first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal includes a signal-to-noise and interference ratio (SINR) associated with the first synchronization signal, and   wherein the SINR associated with the first synchronization signal corresponds to a wideband.   
     
     
         12 . The UE of  claim 11 , wherein a single antenna port is defined for the first synchronization signal and a physical channel associated with the first synchronization signal is received based on the single antenna port. 
     
     
         13 . The UE of  claim 11 , wherein the first configuration information includes a cell index associated with the first synchronization signal. 
     
     
         14 . The UE of  claim 11 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
 receive, from the base station, second configuration information configuration a second CSI report, wherein the second configuration information indicates to use a second synchronization signal for channel measurement for the second CSI report,   obtain the second CSI report based on the second configuration information, and   transmit the second CSI report to the base station,   wherein the second CSI report includes second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal based on the second configuration information,   wherein the second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal includes a reference signal received power (RSRP) associated with the second synchronization signal, and   wherein the RSRP associated with the second synchronization signal corresponds to the wideband.   
     
     
         15 . The UE of  claim 11 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
 receive, from the base station, third configuration information configuring a third CSI report, wherein the third configuration information indicates to use a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) for channel measurement for the third CSI report,   obtain the third CSI report based on the third configuration information, and   transmit the third CSI report to the base station,   wherein the third CSI report includes third CSI associated with the CSI-RS based on the third configuration information, and   wherein the third CSI associated with the CSI-RS includes at least one of a channel quality indicator (CQI), a rank indicator (RI), or a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) associated with the CSI-RS.   
     
     
         16 . A base station in a communication system, the base station comprising:
 a transceiver; and   a controller configured to:
 transmit, to a user equipment (UE), first configuration information configuring a first channel state information (CSI) report, wherein the first configuration information indicates to use a first synchronization signal for channel measurement for the first CSI report, and 
 receive, from the UE, the first CSI report obtained based on the first configuration information, 
   wherein the first CSI report includes first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal based on the first configuration information,   wherein the first CSI associated with the first synchronization signal includes a signal-to-noise and interference ratio (SINR) associated with the first synchronization signal, and   wherein the SINR associated with the first synchronization signal corresponds to a wideband.   
     
     
         17 . The base station of  claim 16 , wherein a single antenna port is defined for the first synchronization signal and a physical channel associated with the first synchronization signal is received based on the single antenna port. 
     
     
         18 . The base station of  claim 16 , wherein the first configuration information includes a cell index associated with the first synchronization signal. 
     
     
         19 . The base station of  claim 16 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
 transmit, to the UE, second configuration information configuration a second CSI report, wherein the second configuration information indicates to use a second synchronization signal for channel measurement for the second CSI report, and   receive, from the UE, the second CSI report obtained based on the second configuration information,   wherein the second CSI report includes second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal based on the second configuration information,   wherein the second CSI associated with the second synchronization signal includes a reference signal received power (RSRP) associated with the second synchronization signal, and   wherein the RSRP associated with the second synchronization signal corresponds to the wideband.   
     
     
         20 . The base station of  claim 16 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
 transmit, to the UE, third configuration information configuring a third CSI report, wherein the third configuration information indicates to use a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) for channel measurement for the third CSI report, and   receive, from the UE, the third CSI report obtained based on the third configuration information,   wherein the third CSI report includes third CSI associated with the CSI-RS based on the third configuration information, and   wherein the third CSI associated with the CSI-RS includes at least one of a channel quality indicator (CQI), a rank indicator (RI), or a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) associated with the CSI-RS.
