Claims

Abstract

A wireless device may receive to a message requesting a connection setup (e.g., a paging message) via a first access technology (e.g., a 3GPP access technology) from a first wireless network. The wireless device may respond to the message by sending a response message via a second access technology (e.g., a non-3GPP access technology). The wireless device may send the response message to indicate that the wireless device does not accept the connection setup request.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 receiving, by a wireless device via a first base station associated with a first access technology of a mobile network, a paging message for connection establishment with the mobile network; and   sending, by the wireless device to a second base station associated with a second access technology of the mobile network, a response to the paging message, wherein the response comprises:
 a rejection of the connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 one or more parameters comprising one or more PDU session identities, wherein the one or more parameters indicate available services for paging by the mobile network. 
   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the response comprises a PDU session identity list of one or more allowed PDU session identities. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the response indicates one or more PDU sessions unavailable for paging. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the sending the response comprises sending a non-access stratum (NAS) response to an access and mobility management function (AMF) device via the second base station. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the response indicates to stop retransmission of the paging message. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the first access technology is a third-generation partnership project (3GPP) access technology;   the second access technology is a non-third generation partnership project (non-3GPP) access technology; and   the sending the response further comprises sending the response to a computing device via the second base station.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the response comprises a cause value indicating at least one of:
 a connection status is busy;   a connection status is weak;   a connection with the second base station that is different from a connection with the first base station; or   the wireless device has more than one subscriber identity module (SIM).   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving, by the wireless device from the first base station with the first access technology, a second paging message; and   based on a determination to communicate using the first access technology, sending a radio resource control (RRC) setup message to the first base station.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein, during the receiving the paging message, the wireless device is in an idle state for the first access technology and in a connected state for the second access technology. 
     
     
         10 . A method comprising:
 sending, by a computing device to a base station associated with a first access technology of a mobile network, an indication to send a paging message to a wireless device for connection establishment with the mobile network; and   receiving, from the wireless device, a response to the paging message, wherein the response comprises:
 a rejection of the connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 one or more parameters comprising one or more PDU session identities, wherein the one or more parameters indicate available services for paging by the mobile network. 
   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the response indicates a determination not to accept service associated with the paging message. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the computing device comprises an access and mobility management function (AMF) device. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein:
 the paging message comprises a paging message to the wireless device via the base station of a third-generation partnership project (3GPP) access technology; and   the receiving the response is via a second base station of a non-third generation partnership project (non-3GPP) access technology.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the response comprises a cause value indicating at least one of:
 a connection status is busy;   a connection status is weak;   a connection with a second base station that is different from a connection with the base station; or   a wireless device has more than one subscriber identity module (SIM).   
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein:
 the indication to send the paging message comprises an N2 paging message; and   the paging message comprises a radio resource control (RRC) paging message.   
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising sending an indication to stop transmission of the paging message based on the wireless device being in an idle state for the first access technology and in a connected state for a second access technology. 
     
     
         17 . A method comprising:
 sending, to a wireless device by a base station associated with a first access technology of a mobile network, a paging message for connection establishment with the mobile network; and   receiving, from the wireless device, a response to the paging message, wherein the response comprises:
 a rejection of the connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 one or more parameters comprising one or more PDU session identities, wherein the one or more parameters indicate available services for paging by the mobile network. 
   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising receiving, from an access and mobility management function (AMF) device and based on the response, an indication comprising a context release command message requesting a context release associated with the wireless device. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , further comprising:
 based on the indication received from the AMF device comprising a context release command message, performing a context release associated with the wireless device.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein:
 the sending the paging message is via a third-generation partnership project (3GPP) access technology; and   the receiving the response is via a non-third generation partnership project (non-3GPP) access technology.   
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the paging message is a radio access network (RAN) paging message. 
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 based on a determination that a response to the paging message has not been received during a time period, retransmitting the paging message; and   receiving, from the wireless device, a radio resource control (RRC) setup message.   
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising receiving an indication to stop transmission of the paging message based on the wireless device being in an idle state for the first access technology and in a connected state for a second access technology. 
     
     
         24 . A wireless device comprising:
 one or more processors; and   memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:
 receive, via a first base station associated with a first access technology of a mobile network, a paging message for connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 send, to a second base station associated with a second access technology of the mobile network, a response to the paging message, wherein the response comprises:
 a rejection of the connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 one or more parameters comprising one or more PDU session identities, wherein the one or more parameters indicate available services for paging by the mobile network. 
 
   
     
     
         25 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the response comprises a PDU session identity list of one or more allowed PDU session identities. 
     
     
         26 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the response indicates one or more PDU sessions unavailable for paging. 
     
     
         27 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to send the response by sending a non-access stratum (NAS) response to an access and mobility management function (AMF) device via the second base station. 
     
     
         28 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the response indicates to stop retransmission of the paging message. 
     
     
         29 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the first access technology is a third-generation partnership project (3GPP) access technology;
 wherein the second access technology is a non-third generation partnership project (non-3GPP) access technology; and   wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to send, via the second base station, the response to a computing device.   
     
     
         30 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the response comprises a cause value indicating at least one of:
 a connection status is busy;   a connection status is weak;   a connection with the second base station that is different from a connection with the first base station; or   the wireless device has more than one subscriber identity module (SIM).   
     
     
         31 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to:
 receive, from the first base station with the first access technology, a second paging message; and   based on a determination to communicate using the first access technology, send a radio resource control (RRC) setup message to the first base station.   
     
     
         32 . The wireless device of  claim 24 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive the paging message based on the wireless device being in an idle state for the first access technology and in a connected state for the second access technology. 
     
     
         33 . A computing device comprising:
 one or more processors; and   memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to:
 send, to a base station associated with a first access technology of a mobile network, an indication to send a paging message to a wireless device for connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 receive, from the wireless device, a response to the paging message, wherein the response comprises:
 a rejection of the connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 one or more parameters comprising one or more PDU session identities, wherein the one or more parameters indicate available services for paging by the mobile network. 
 
   
     
     
         34 . The computing device of  claim 33 , wherein the response indicates a determination not to accept service associated with the paging message. 
     
     
         35 . The computing device of  claim 33 , wherein the computing device comprises an access and mobility management function (AMF) device. 
     
     
         36 . The computing device of  claim 33 , wherein the paging message comprises a paging message to the wireless device via the base station of a third-generation partnership project (3GPP) access technology; and
 wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to receive, via a second base station of a non-third generation partnership project (non-3GPP) access technology, the response.   
     
     
         37 . The computing device of  claim 33 , wherein the response comprises a cause value indicating at least one of:
 a connection status is busy;   a connection status is weak;   a connection with a second base station that is different from a connection with the base station; or   a wireless device has more than one subscriber identity module (SIM).   
     
     
         38 . The computing device of  claim 33 , wherein:
 the indication to send the paging message comprises an N2 paging message; and   the paging message comprises a radio resource control (RRC) paging message.   
     
     
         39 . The computing device of  claim 33 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the computing device to send an indication to stop transmission of the paging message based on the wireless device being in an idle state for the first access technology and in a connected state for a second access technology. 
     
     
         40 . A base station comprising:
 one or more processors; and   memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:
 send, to a wireless device, a paging message for connection establishment with a mobile network, wherein the base station is associated with a first access technology of the mobile network; and 
 receive, from the wireless device, a response to the paging message, wherein the response comprises:
 a rejection of the connection establishment with the mobile network; and 
 one or more parameters comprising one or more PDU session identities, wherein the one or more parameters indicate available services for paging by the mobile network. 
 
   
     
     
         41 . The base station of  claim 40 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to receive, from an access and mobility management function (AMF) device and based on the response, an indication comprising a context release command message requesting a context release associated with the wireless device. 
     
     
         42 . The base station of  claim 41 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to, based on the indication received from the AMF device comprising a context release command message, perform a context release associated with the wireless device. 
     
     
         43 . The base station of  claim 40 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:
 send, via a third-generation partnership project (3GPP) access technology, the paging message; and   receive, via a non-third generation partnership project (non-3GPP) access technology, the response.   
     
     
         44 . The base station of  claim 40 , wherein the paging message is a radio access network (RAN) paging message. 
     
     
         45 . The base station of  claim 40 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to:
 based on a determination that a response to the paging message has not been received during a time period, retransmit the paging message; and   receive, from the wireless device, a radio resource control (RRC) setup message.   
     
     
         46 . The base station of  claim 40 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to receive an indication to stop transmission of the paging message based on the wireless device being in an idle state for the first access technology and in a connected state for a second access technology.
