Abstract

Systems and methods are described for adjusting decision reliability scores (e.g., weights) in weighted consensus algorithms for blockchains include accessing broadcast events in a blockchain, where the broadcast events correspond to a historic period of time. A broadcast decision provided by a participant in the blockchain for each of the broadcast events may be identified. A consensus decision for each of the broadcast events may be identified where the consensus decision indicates whether there is a consensus among participants in the blockchain that a corresponding broadcast event should be added as a new node to the blockchain. A success rate may be calculated for the participant based the identified broadcast decision provided by the participant for each of the broadcast events and the identified consensus decision for each of the broadcast events. Based on the success rate, the decision reliability score for the participant may be increased, decreased, or maintained.

         2 . A system, comprising:
 a non-transitory memory; and   one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations comprising:
 identifying broadcast decisions of a participant in a blockchain, the broadcast decisions being associated with a set of broadcast events; 
 identifying consensus decisions for the broadcast decisions of the participant, a consensus decision indicating a consensus among participants in the blockchain to add a broadcast event as a node to the blockchain; 
 determining a success rate for the participant based on a number of broadcast decisions matching corresponding consensus decisions and a total number of consensus decisions; and 
 based on the success rate, modifying a decision reliability score for the participant, the decision reliability weighting future broadcast decisions of the participant in future broadcast events for the blockchain. 
   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the broadcast decisions are identified from the set of broadcast events occurring within a specified timeframe for the blockchain, the broadcast decisions identified within the specified timeframe identified on an external database outside of the blockchain. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein modifying the decision reliability score further comprises:
 determining the success rate is above a success threshold; and   increasing the decision reliability score for the participant by an amount corresponding to the success rate being above the success threshold.   
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein modifying the decision reliability score further comprises:
 determining the success rate is below a success threshold; and   decreasing the decision reliability score for the participant by an amount corresponding to the success rate being below the success threshold.   
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 5 , wherein the amount the decision reliability score is decreased corresponds to a value of the success rate. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 5 , wherein the amount the decision reliability score is decreased corresponds to a range the success rate is below the success threshold, the range being within a plurality of ranges. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein participants of the blockchain are initially assigned a maximum decision reliability score. 
     
     
         9 . A method, comprising:
 identifying broadcast decisions of a participant associated with broadcast events in a blockchain;   identifying consensus decisions for the broadcast decisions of the participant, a consensus decision indicating a decision of participants to add a broadcast event as a node to the blockchain;   determining a success rate for the participant based on a consensus contribution score for the participant compared to a total number of consensus decisions; and   based on the success rate, determining an action for a decision reliability score for the participant, the decision reliability weighting future broadcast decisions of the participant in future broadcast events for the blockchain.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the action for the decision reliability score is to maintain the decision reliability score of the participant based on the success rate of the participant being within a specified success rate range. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 increasing the decision reliability score for the participant by an amount corresponding to the success rate being above a success threshold.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the decision reliability score is increased to a maximum decision reliability score in response to the participant having a highest decision reliability score of the participants of the blockchain and the highest decision reliability score being below the maximum decision reliability score. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the participant is a first participant, the method further comprising:
 increasing one or more decision reliability scores of one or more other participants of the blockchain based on increasing the decision reliability score of the first participant to the maximum decision reliability score.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 decreasing the decision reliability score for the participant by an amount corresponding to the success rate being below a success threshold.   
     
     
         15 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that are executed by a computer system to perform operations comprising:
 identifying broadcast decisions of a participant associated with broadcast events in a blockchain;   identifying consensus decisions for the broadcast decisions of the participant, a consensus decision indicating a broadcast event being added as a node to the blockchain;   determining a success rate for the participant based on a number of broadcast decisions matching corresponding consensus decisions divided by a total number of consensus decisions; and   based on the success rate, determining an action for a decision reliability score for the participant.   
     
     
         16 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the success rate is within a predetermined success rate range and wherein the action maintains the decision reliability score for the participant. 
     
     
         17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the action decreases the decision reliability score for the participant based on the success rate being below a success threshold. 
     
     
         18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 suspending the participant from participating in the blockchain in response to the decision reliability score of the participant falling below a decision reliability threshold.   
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 18 , wherein suspending the participant from the blockchain excludes broadcast decisions of the participant from inclusion in computation of a node consensus score to add nodes to the blockchain. 
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 18 , wherein suspending the participant from the blockchain excludes the participant from accessing the blockchain. 
     
     
         21 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the action increases the decision reliability score for the participant by an amount corresponding to the success rate being above a success threshold.
