Abstract
A computing device includes a flexible display screen, a housing to house at least one processor device and at least one memory element, and a first wing to support a side portion of the display screen. The front face of the housing includes a center portion of the display screen. The first wing is connected to the housing by a hinge, the first wing configured to swivel about an axis defined by the hinge. The hinge is configured to lock the first wing in at least two wing positions, a first of the wing positions supports the side portion of the display screen in a first orientation, a second of the wing positions supports the side portion of the display screen in a second orientation, and the side portion of the display screen is active in the first orientation and hidden in the second orientation.

a center portion; a left portion rotatably coupled to the center portion; a right portion rotatably coupled to the center portion, wherein the center portion, the left portion, and the right portion are rigid; a flexible display screen that traverses one side of each of the center portion, the left portion, and the right portion, wherein the flexible display screen comprises a center display screen portion that traverses the center portion, a left display screen portion that traverses the left portion, and a right display screen portion that traverses the right portion; one or more processors; and one or more machine-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the foldable device to:
present a first version of a graphical user interface on the center display screen portion when the foldable device is in a first orientation; and
present a second version of the graphical user interface across the left display screen portion, the center display screen portion, and the right display screen portion when the foldable device is in a second orientation;
wherein in the first orientation of the foldable device, the left portion and the right portion are folded relative to the center portion, the center display screen portion is enabled, and the left display screen portion and the right display screen portion are disabled; wherein in the second orientation of the foldable device, the left portion and the right portion are unfolded relative to the center portion and the left display screen portion, the right display screen portion, and the center display screen portion are enabled.
2 . The foldable device of claim 1 , wherein the foldable device is a tablet computer.
3 . The foldable device of claim 1 , wherein the foldable device is a mobile phone.
4 . The foldable device of claim 1 , further comprising one or more sensors configured to detect whether the left portion and the right portion are folded or unfolded relative to the center portion, wherein the instructions are to further cause the one or more processors to:
present the first version of the graphical user interface in response to the one or more sensors detecting that the left portion and the right portion are folded relative to the center portion; and present the second version of the graphical user interface in response to the one or more sensors detecting that the left portion and the right portion are unfolded relative to the center portion.
5 . The foldable device of claim 1 , wherein the flexible display screen comprises a touchscreen.
6 . A method, comprising:
presenting a first version of a graphical user interface on a center display screen portion of a foldable device when the foldable device is in a first orientation, the foldable device comprising:
a center portion;
a left portion rotatably coupled to the center portion;
a right portion rotatably coupled to the center portion, wherein the center portion, the left portion, and the right portion are rigid; and
a flexible display screen that traverses one side of each of the center portion, the left portion, and the right portion, wherein the flexible display screen comprises the center display screen portion, a left display screen portion, and a right display screen portion, wherein the center display screen portion traverses the center portion, the left display screen portion traverses the left portion, and the right display screen portion traverses the right portion; and
presenting a second version of the graphical user interface across the left display screen portion, the center display screen portion, and the right display screen portion when the foldable device is in a second orientation; wherein, in the first orientation of the foldable device, the left portion and the right portion are folded relative to the center portion, the center display screen portion is enabled, and the left display screen portion and the right display screen portion are disabled; wherein, in the second orientation of the foldable device, the left portion and the right portion are unfolded relative to the center portion and the left display screen portion, the right display screen portion, and the center display screen portion are enabled.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the foldable device is a tablet computer.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the foldable device is a mobile phone.
9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the flexible display screen comprises a touchscreen.
10 .
