Extracellular matrix delivery device

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to the field of endoscopy. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods for delivering a therapeutic agent within a body lumen, and maintaining the therapeutic agent in contact with a wall of the body lumen for a beneficial period of time. In particular, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods to prevent lesions within the gastrointestinal tract from spreading into healthy surrounding tissue.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A medical device, comprising:
 a stent configured to move between a first non-expanded configuration and a second expanded configuration;   a plurality of tubes disposed about an outer wall of the stent; and   at least one therapeutic agent disposed within a lumen of the plurality of tubes;   wherein a first portion of the plurality of tubes is configured to deliver the therapeutic agent over a first time interval and a second portion of the plurality of tubes is configured to deliver the therapeutic agent over a second time interval that is different from the first time interval.   
     
     
         2 . The medical device of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second portions of the plurality of tubes differ in thickness. 
     
     
         3 . The medical device of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second portions of the plurality of tubes differ in composition. 
     
     
         4 . The medical device of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second portions of the plurality of tubes contain differing forms of the at least one therapeutic agent. 
     
     
         5 . The medical device of  claim 1 , wherein the first portion is loaded with a gel or a liquid and the second portion is loaded with a powder. 
     
     
         6 . The medical device of  claim 1 , further comprising a covering disposed on an inner wall or the outer wall of the stent. 
     
     
         7 . The medical device of  claim 1 , wherein a diameter of the medical device in the first configuration is about 30-50% of a diameter of the medical device in the second configuration. 
     
     
         8 . A medical device, comprising:
 a stent configured to move between a first non-expanded configuration and a second expanded configuration;   at least one tube disposed about an outer wall of the stent; and   at least one therapeutic agent disposed within a lumen of the at least one tube;   wherein the at least one tube comprises a permeable material through which the one or more therapeutic agents pass upon implantation.   
     
     
         9 . The medical device of  claim 8 , further comprising a covering disposed on an inner wall or the outer wall of the stent. 
     
     
         10 . The medical device of  claim 8 , wherein the at least one therapeutic agent comprises a liquid, gel or a powder. 
     
     
         11 . The medical device of  claim 8 , wherein a diameter of the medical device in the first configuration is about 30-50% of a diameter of the medical device in the second configuration. 
     
     
         12 . The medical device of  claim 8 , wherein the at least one tube includes a plurality of tubes. 
     
     
         13 . A medical device, comprising:
 a stent configured to move between a first non-expanded configuration and a second expanded configuration;   at least one tube disposed on an outer wall of the stent; and   at least one therapeutic agent disposed within a lumen of the at least one tube;   wherein the least one tube includes a planar surface that contacts the outer wall of the stent.   
     
     
         14 . The medical device of  claim 13 , wherein the at least one tube comprises a hemispherical cross-section. 
     
     
         15 . The medical device of  claim 13 , further comprising a covering disposed on an inner wall or the outer wall of the stent. 
     
     
         16 . The medical device of  claim 13 , wherein the at least one therapeutic agent comprises a liquid, gel or a powder. 
     
     
         17 . The medical device of  claim 13 , wherein a diameter of the medical device in the first configuration is about 30-50% of a diameter of the medical device in the second configuration. 
     
     
         18 . The medical device of  claim 13 , wherein the at least one tube includes a plurality of tubes. 
     
     
         19 . The medical device of  claim 13 , wherein the at least one tube comprises a biodegradable or bioabsorbable material. 
     
     
         20 . The medical device of  claim 13 , wherein the at least one tube comprises a permeable or semi-permeable material.
