Abstract

A pillow hat for covering the head fashionably while providing a cushion for comfortably supporting a user's head includes a casing and cushion configured for at least partially covering a scalp of a user and supporting a head of the user when the head of the user rests against a support surface with the casing and the cushion positioned between the support surface and the head of the user. The casing comprises an inner layer section, an outer layer section, and a rim section extending between the inner layer section and the outer layer section. The casing defines an interior space at least partially filled by the cushion.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A pillow hat comprising:
 a casing, said casing comprising an inner layer section, an outer layer section, and a rim section, each of said inner layer section and said outer layer section having a respective one of a pair of ellipsoidal dome shapes, said inner layer section being positioned within a concavity defined by said outer layer section, said rim section extending between an edge of said inner layer section and an edge of said outer layer section, said casing defining an interior space between said inner layer section and said outer layer section,
 wherein said casing is constructed of a deformable material, said casing being configured to at least partially cover a scalp of a user; and 
   a cushion, said cushion being positioned in said interior space, said cushion being constructed of a resiliently compressible material, said cushion being configured for supporting the head of the user when the head of the user rests against a support surface such that said casing and said cushion are positioned between the support surface and the head of the user.   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said rim section of said casing is resiliently flexible, said casing being configured to be positionable in a first configuration, said first configuration comprising said rim section of said casing flexing to frictionally engage the head of the user such that said casing at least partially covers the scalp of the user and does not cover either of a pair of eyes of the user or either of a pair of ears of the user. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said rim section of said casing is resiliently flexible, said casing being configured to be positionable in a second configuration, said second configuration comprising said rim section of said casing flexing to frictionally engage the head of the user such that said casing at least partially covers the scalp of the user and a pair of eyes of the user, but does not cover either of a pair of ears of the user, said casing and said cushion cooperatively blocking a light from reaching the pair of eyes of the user when said casing is positioned in said second configuration.

The device of  claim 1 , wherein said rim section of said casing is resiliently flexible, said casing being configured to be positionable in a third configuration, said third configuration comprising said rim section of said casing flexing to frictionally engage the head of the user such that said casing at least partially covers the scalp of the user, covers a pair of eyes of the user, and covers a pair of ears of the user, said casing and said cushion cooperatively blocking a light from reaching the pair of eyes of the user when said casing is positioned in said third configuration, said casing and said cushion cooperatively suppressing a quantity of sound directed toward the pair of ears when said casing is positioned in said third configuration. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said casing is constructed of cotton. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said casing is constructed of silk. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said cushion is constructed of foam material. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said cushion is constructed of cotton. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said cushion fills said interior space. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein said rim section of said casing has an arcuate cross-section. 
     
     
         11 . A pillow hat comprising:
 a casing, said casing comprising an inner layer section, an outer layer section, and a rim section, each of said inner layer section and said outer layer section having a respective one of a pair of ellipsoidal dome shapes, said inner layer section being positioned within a concavity defined by said outer layer section, said rim section extending between an edge of said inner layer section and an edge of said outer layer section, said casing defining an interior space between said inner layer section and said outer layer section,
 wherein said casing is constructed of a deformable material, said casing being configured to at least partially cover a scalp of a user, 
 wherein said rim section of said casing has an arcuate cross-section; and 
   a cushion, said cushion being positioned in said interior space, said cushion being constructed of a resiliently compressible material, said cushion being configured for supporting the head of the user when the head of the user rests against a support surface such that said casing and said cushion are positioned between the support surface and the head of the user,
 wherein said cushion fills said interior space, 
 wherein said rim section of said casing is resiliently flexible, said casing being configured to be positionable in a first configuration, said first configuration comprising said rim section of said casing flexing to frictionally engage the head of the user such that said casing at least partially covers the scalp of the user and does not cover either of a pair of eyes of the user or either of a pair of ears of the user, 
 wherein said casing is configured to be positionable in a second configuration, said second configuration comprising said rim section of said casing flexing to frictionally engage the head of the user such that said casing at least partially covers the scalp of the user and the pair of eyes of the user, but does not cover either of the pair of ears of the user, said casing and said cushion cooperatively blocking a light from reaching the pair of eyes of the user when said casing is positioned in said second configuration, 
 wherein said casing is configured to be positionable in a third configuration, said third configuration comprising said rim section of said casing flexing to frictionally engage the head of the user such that said casing at least partially covers the scalp of the user, covers the pair of eyes of the user, and covers the pair of ears of the user, said casing and said cushion cooperatively blocking a light from reaching the pair of eyes of the user when said casing is positioned in said third configuration, said casing and said cushion cooperatively suppressing a quantity of sound directed toward the pair of ears when said casing is positioned in said third configuration.
