Abstract
A system including optical devices is provided. The system includes a first substrate and a first device for optical communication. The first device has a first surface, a second surface opposite to the first surface, and a first side contiguous with the first surface and the second surface. Moreover, the first side is smaller than one of the first surface and the second surface in terms of area. The first device is attached at the first side thereof to the first substrate.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system comprising optical devices, the system comprising:
a carrier; a light source over the carrier; a first device over the carrier; a second device over the carrier; and additional first devices disposed adjacent to one side of the second device, wherein the first device and the additional first devices share the light source, and the first device and the additional first devices are at a same side of the second device.
2 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the second device comprises four sides, and the four sides comprise a first side and a second side substantially parallel to each other.
3 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising an optical fiber connected to the first device, wherein the optical fiber comprises a first portion extending along a first direction, and a second portion extending along a second direction different from the first direction.
4 . The system as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the first portion of the optical fiber is angled with respect to the second portion of the optical fiber as viewed in a third direction substantially perpendicular to a top surface of the carrier.
5 . The system as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the optical fiber further comprises a third portion and a fourth portion, an elevation of the third portion is different from an elevation of the fourth portion with respect to a top surface of the carrier as viewed in a fourth direction substantially parallel to the top surface of the carrier.
6 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a distance between the first device and the second device is smaller than a distance between the light source and the second device.
7 . The system as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a distance between the first device and the second device is smaller than a distance between the first device and the light source.
8 . A system comprising optical devices, the system comprising:
a carrier; a plurality of light sources outside of a coverage area of the carrier; a plurality of first devices over the carrier; and a second device over the carrier and having a first side and a second side opposite to the first side, wherein the first devices are disposed at the first side and the second side of the second device, the coverage area of the carrier defines a first edge extension line and a second edge extension line respectively corresponding to the first side and the second side of the second device, and the light sources are outside of the first edge extension line and the second edge extension line.
9 . The system as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the second device further comprises a third side substantially perpendicular to the first side, and the light sources are free from overlapping the first devices in a first direction substantially parallel to the third side as viewed in a second direction substantially perpendicular to a surface of the carrier.
10 . The system as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the light sources are free from overlapping the first devices in a third direction substantially parallel to the first side of the second device as viewed in the second direction.
11 . The system as claimed in claim 8 , wherein a number of the light sources is different from a number of the first devices.
12 . The system as claimed in claim 11 , wherein the number of the light sources is less than the number of the first devices.
13 . The system as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the first side and the second side of the second device are substantially parallel to each other.
14 . The system as claimed in claim 8 , wherein two or more of the first devices are at the first side of the second device, and another two or more of the first devices are at the second side of the second device.
15 . The system as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the plurality of light sources comprise at least two light sources each optically connected to two or more of the first devices.
16 . A system comprising optical devices, the system comprising:
a first carrier; a second carrier distinct from the first carrier; an electronic device over the first carrier; a light source over the second carrier; and a plurality of optical engines at a same side of the electronic device proximal to the light source, wherein at least a lateral surface of the electronic device is substantially parallel to an edge of the second carrier as viewed in a first direction substantially perpendicular to a surface of the first carrier.
17 . The system as claimed in claim 16 , wherein at least a lateral surface of the first carrier is substantially parallel to at least a lateral surface of the second carrier as viewed in the first direction.
18 . The system as claimed in claim 16 , wherein an elevation of the first carrier is different from an elevation of the second carrier.
19 . The system as claimed in claim 18 , wherein the first carrier is over the second carrier.
20 . The system as claimed in claim 16 , wherein the optical engines are arranged in a side-by-side manner at the same side of the electronic device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
