Hand vacuum cleaner

Abstract

A hand vacuum cleaner has an air treatment chamber, a body portion, which houses a suction motor, a handle and at least one of a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter. The hand vacuum cleaner has a forward portion and a rearward portion, the forward portion comprises at least the air treatment chamber and the rearward portion comprises at least one of the suction motor, the handle, and the at least one of a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter. The rearward portion is rotationally mounted to the forward portion. The at least one of the suction motor, the handle, the pre-motor filter and the post-motor filter, which are not provided in the rearward portion, are provided in the forward portion.

1 . A hand vacuum cleaner having a front end and a rear end, the hand vacuum cleaner comprising:
 (a) an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet;   (b) an air treatment assembly provided in the air flow path, the air treatment assembly comprising an air treatment chamber having an air inlet and an air outlet;   (c) a body portion, which houses the suction motor that is provided in the air flow path;   (d) a handle; and,   (e) at least one of a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter,   wherein the hand vacuum cleaner has a forward portion and a rearward portion, the forward portion comprises at least the air treatment chamber and the rearward portion comprises at least one of the suction motor, the handle, and the at least one of a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter, and   wherein the at least one of the suction motor, the handle, and the at least one of a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter that is not provided in the rearward portion are provided in the forward portion, and   wherein the rearward portion is rotationally mounted to the forward portion.   
     
     
         2 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 1  wherein the forward portion further comprises the handle. 
     
     
         3 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 2  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor. 
     
     
         4 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 2  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor and the pre-motor filter. 
     
     
         5 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 2  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor, the pre-motor filter and the post-motor filter. 
     
     
         6 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 1  wherein the forward portion further comprises the pre-motor filter. 
     
     
         7 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 6  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor. 
     
     
         8 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 6  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor and the post-motor filter. 
     
     
         9 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 6  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor and the handle. 
     
     
         10 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 1  wherein the forward portion further comprises the post-motor filter. 
     
     
         11 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 10  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor. 
     
     
         12 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 10  wherein the rearward portion comprises the suction motor and the handle. 
     
     
         13 . A hand vacuum cleaner having a front end and a rear end, the hand vacuum cleaner comprising:
 (a) an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet;   (b) a plurality of operating components comprising at least one air treatment component and a suction motor, that are provided in the air flow path, the air treatment component comprising at least one of an air treatment chamber, a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter.   (c) a body portion, which houses the suction motor that is provided in the air flow path; and,   (d) a handle;   wherein the hand vacuum cleaner has a forward portion and a rearward portion, the forward portion comprises at least one operating component and the rearward portion comprises at least one other operating component and the rearward portion is rotationally mounted to the forward portion.   
     
     
         14 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 13  wherein the forward portion comprises the air treatment member and the rearward portion comprises the suction motor. 
     
     
         15 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 14  wherein the forward portion further comprises the pre-motor filter. 
     
     
         16 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 14  wherein the rearward portion further comprises at least one energy storage member. 
     
     
         17 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 16  wherein the rearward portion further comprises a handle and the at least one energy storage member is provided at a lower end of the handle. 
     
     
         18 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 17  wherein the suction motor is provided at an upper end of the handle. 
     
     
         19 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 13  wherein the forward portion further comprises a handle and at least one energy storage member is provided at a lower end of the handle. 
     
     
         20 . The hand vacuum cleaner of  claim 19  wherein the suction motor is provided above and rearward of the handle.
