Abstract

A surface-cleaning apparatus ( 1 ) includes: a main-body housing ( 2 ); a suction motor ( 6 ), which is housed in the main-body housing and is driven to recover a cleaning liquid from a surface of a cleaning target; a first tank ( 3 ), which houses the cleaning liquid to be supplied to the surface of the cleaning target; and a second tank ( 4 ), which houses the cleaning liquid recovered from the surface of the cleaning target. One tank of the first tank and the second tank has a tank-recessed portion ( 22 ) that is recessed from a portion of a surface of the one tank. The other tank of the first tank and the second tank has a lower surface ( 4 A) that opposes a stationary surface on which the surface-cleaning apparatus sits.

1 . A surface-cleaning apparatus comprising:
 a main-body housing;   a suction motor housed in the main-body housing;   a first tank configured to hold cleaning liquid to be supplied to a surface of a cleaning target; and   a second tank configured to hold cleaning liquid recovered from the surface of the cleaning target;   wherein:   the suction motor is drivable to recover the cleaning liquid from the surface of the cleaning target;   one tank of the first tank and the second tank has a tank-recessed portion that is recessed from a portion of a surface of the one tank; and   the other tank of the first tank and the second tank has a lower surface configured to oppose a stationary surface on which the surface-cleaning apparatus is disposed.   
     
     
         2 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising a battery-mounting part arranged on the main-body housing so as to face the tank-recessed portion and configured to detachably mount a battery pack. 
     
     
         3 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein a tank opening, through which at least a portion of the battery pack can pass, is provided at an edge portion of the tank-recessed portion. 
     
     
         4 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 3 , wherein the tank opening is provided in either a left side surface or a right side surface of the one tank. 
     
     
         5 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 4 , wherein the battery-mounting part is configured to guide the battery pack in a left-right direction during mounting and demounting of the battery pack. 
     
     
         6 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 5 , wherein the tank opening is defined along both a lower surface of the one tank and one of the left side surface or the right side surface of the one tank. 
     
     
         7 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 6 , wherein:
 the main-body housing has a main-body recessed portion, which is recessed from a side surface of the main-body housing so as to be contiguous with the tank-recessed portion;   a main-body opening, through which at least a portion of the battery pack can pass, is provided along an edge portion of the main-body recessed portion; and   the battery-mounting part is disposed on a bottom surface of the main-body recessed portion.   
     
     
         8 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein inner surfaces of the tank-recessed portion include a top surface, which is disposed below an upper surface of the one tank in an up-down direction of the surface-cleaning apparatus. 
     
     
         9 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the one tank comprises a handle. 
     
     
         10 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein:
 the one tank is connectable, in a detachable manner, to an upper portion of the main-body housing; and   the other tank is connectable, in a detachable manner, to a lower portion of the main-body housing.   
     
     
         11 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein:
 the first tank is connectable to an upper portion of the main-body housing; and   the second tank is connectable to a lower portion of the main-body housing.   
     
     
         12 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the main-body housing, the first tank, and the second tank each are box-shaped structures. 
     
     
         13 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein:
 the first tank is directly latchable to an upper portion of the main-body housing; and   the second tank is directly latchable to a lower portion of the main-body housing.   
     
     
         14 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 13 , wherein the tank-recessed portion is defined in a left side surface or a right side surface of the first tank. 
     
     
         15 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein:
 the main-body housing has a main-body recessed portion, which is recessed from a side surface of the main-body housing so as to be contiguous with the tank-recessed portion;   a main-body opening, through which at least a portion of the battery pack can pass, is provided along an edge portion of the main-body recessed portion; and   a battery-mounting part is disposed on a bottom surface of the main-body recessed portion so as to face the tank-recessed portion, the battery-mounting part being configured to detachably mount a battery pack and supply current to the suction motor.   
     
     
         16 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 15 , wherein:
 a top surface of the tank-recessed portion is disposed below an upper surface of the first tank in an up-down direction of the surface-cleaning apparatus; and   a carrying handle is disposed on the upper surface of the first tank.   
     
     
         17 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 16 , wherein:
 the battery-mounting part comprises first and second guide rails and a terminal block disposed between the first and second guide rails; and   the first and second guide rails extend in parallel in a left-right direction of the surface-cleaning apparatus that is perpendicular to the up-down direction.   
     
     
         18 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 17 , further comprising:
 a supply pump housed in the main-body housing and configured to cause cleaning liquid to flow in a flow direction from the first tank to an outflow port provided on the main-body housing; and   a flexible hose having a first end fluidly connected to the outflow port and a second end fluidly connected to a nozzle.   
     
     
         19 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 18 , wherein:
 the battery-mounting part is disposed between the supply pump and the suction motor in a front-rear direction that is perpendicular to both the up-down direction and the left-right direction; and   a center axis extending in the up-down direction intersects the tank-recessed portion, the main-body recessed portion, the first tank, the second tank and the battery-mounting part.   
     
     
         20 . The surface-cleaning apparatus according to  claim 12 , further comprising:
 a first battery-mounting part disposed in the main-body housing;   a second battery-mounting part disposed in the main-body housing and aligned with the first battery-mounting part in a front-rear direction; and   a supply pump is housed in the main-body housing and configured to cause cleaning liquid to flow in a flow direction from the first tank to an outflow port provided on the main-body housing;   wherein:   the first battery-mounting part is disposed directly above the suction motor in an up-down direction that is perpendicular to the front-rear direction;   the second battery-mounting part is disposed directly above the supply motor in the up-down direction;   a center axis extending in the up-down direction intersects the first tank and the second tank and passes between the first battery-mounting part and the second battery-mounting part.
