In certain embodiments, the treatment regimen comprises administering an effective amount of magnesium.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

. A pet food composition comprising magnesium or a salt thereof in an amount of about 10 mg to about 1000 mg per daily serving or unit dosage.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the amount of magnesium is in an amount of about 0.001% to about 10% by weight of the pet food composition.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the amount of the magnesium is no more than about 0.25% weight by weight of the pet food composition.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the pet food composition further comprises an additional active agent.

. The pet food composition of claim 4 , wherein the additional active agent can be selected from a group comprising a nutritional agent, a beta-blocker, an agent that reduces blood pressure, or combinations thereof.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the pet food composition further comprises additives.

. The pet food composition of claim 6 , wherein the additives are present in an amount of up to about 5% by dry basis of the composition.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the magnesium is in a magnesium coordination complex.

. The pet food composition of claim 8 , wherein the magnesium coordination complex comprises a chlorophyll selected from the group comprising chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, chlorophyll c1, chlorophyll c2, chlorophyll d, chlorophyll f, or combinations thereof.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the magnesium is a magnesium salt.

. The pet food composition of claim 10 , wherein the magnesium salt comprises an anion bonded via ionic bond with Mg 2+ .

. The pet food composition of claim 10 , wherein the magnesium salt comprises an acetate salt, a trifluoroacetate salt, or a formate salt.

. The pet food composition of claim 10 , wherein the magnesium salt is magnesium glycinate.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the magnesium is an inorganic magnesium salt.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the magnesium is an organic magnesium salt.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the pet food composition is a dietary supplement, an oral supplement, treat, dry pet food, and/or wet pet food.

. The pet food composition of claim 17 , wherein the wet pet food is in a canned form.

. The pet food composition of claim 17 , wherein the dry pet food is kibble.

. The pet food composition of claim 1 , wherein the pet food composition is a cat food composition.
