System, apparatus, method, and graphical user interface for screening
Abstract
Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of screening a patient for end organ damage due to infection. The method entails receiving patient data relating to an identified patient in a computing system including a processor and memory coupled to the processor, wherein the memory stores programmable instructions executable by the processor. The presence of Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome is determined and then the presence or absence of a high probability of end organ damage due to infection. Each of the determining steps includes receiving, on a graphical user interface, one or more user selections presented on the graphical user interface and executing programmable instructions based on received user selections.

27 . A computing system, comprising:
at least one processor; at least one display; memory coupled to the at least one processor, wherein the memory stores programmable instructions executable by the processor to present a plurality of graphical user interfaces on the display, including a first graphical user interface and a second graphical user interface, and programmable instructions executable to determine the presence of a medical condition based on user selected patient information received on the graphical user interfaces; and wherein the first user interface presents, as user selection options, patient related conditions, and wherein said executing instructions includes comparing user selected patient related conditions received on said user interface with a screening criteria to indicate the presence of Systematic Inflammatory Response Syndrome; and wherein the second user interface presents, as user selection options, a plurality of clinical judgment-based parameters, and wherein said executing instructions includes comparing user selected clinical judgment-based parameters received on said user interface with a screening criteria to indicate a high probability of end organ damage due to infection; and wherein said instructions are further executable to generate said second user interface upon the indication of the presence of Systematic Inflammatory Response Syndrome.

The computing system of claim 27 , wherein said instructions are executable to present a third graphical user interface on the display upon an indication of high probability of end organ damage due to infection, and to determine the presence of end organ damage due to infection based on user selected clinical parameters received on the graphical user interfaces; and
wherein the third user interface presents, as user selection options, a set of clinical parameters, and wherein said executing instructions includes comparing user selected clinical parameters received on said user interface with a screening criteria to indicate the presence of end organ damage due to infection.
29 . The computing system of claim 28 , wherein said determining the presence or absence of a high probability of end organ damage due to infection includes determining a False Positive SIRS based on said user selections.
30 . A non-transitory computer-accessible storage medium storing programmable instructions computer-executable to implement a first graphical user interface, a second graphical user interface, and a third graphical user interface each for presentation on a computer display and to screen a patient for a medical condition based on user selected data received on each of said user interfaces;
wherein the first user interface presents, as user selection options, a set of patient related conditions, and wherein said instructions includes comparing user selected patient related conditions received on said user interface with a screening criteria to indicate the presence of SIRS; and wherein said instructions are further executable to generate said second user interface upon the indication of the presence of SIRS via the first user interface, and wherein the second user interface presents, as user selection options, a set of clinical judgment-based parameters, and wherein said instructions are further executable to compare user selected clinical judgment-based parameters received on said user interface with a screening criteria to indicate a high probability of end organ damage due to infection; and wherein the third user interface presents, as user selection options, a set of clinical parameters, and wherein said executing instructions includes comparing user selected patient related clinical parameters received on said user interface with a screening criteria to indicate the presence of end organ damage due to infection.
31 . A method of screening a patient for sepsis, comprising:
measuring vitals for the patient; inputting patient vitals as patient information into a computing device storing programmable instructions; executing said programmable instructions to determine the presence of Systematic Inflammatory Response Syndrome based on the inputted patient information; prompting input into said computing device of clinical judgment information and executing said programmable instructions to determine a condition of High Probability Sepsis; presenting a menu of clinical parameters selections on said computing device; and executing said programmable instructions to determine a condition of severe sepsis based on the inputted clinical parameters.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
