Abstract

A method includes detecting an event occurring on a vehicle. The vehicle includes at least one computing device that controls at least one operation of the vehicle. The at least one computing device includes a first computing device comprising system memory. In response to detecting the event, data is downloaded from the system memory to a non-volatile memory device of the vehicle. In some cases, a control action for the vehicle is implemented based on analysis of the downloaded data.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A device, comprising:
a non-volatile memory; and a circuit coupled to the non-volatile memory and configured to:
access a system memory of a vehicle in response to a predetermined event associated with operations of the vehicle; and
store a copy of content from the system memory into the non-volatile memory.

2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined event comprises of a collision of a vehicle with an object, and the object is to be identified based on output from an artificial neural network.

3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein data output from the artificial neural network is downloaded to the non-volatile memory device in response to detecting the predetermined event.

4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the circuit is further configured store program counter data from the system memory to the non-volatile memory, the program counter data indicating an operational state of the vehicle while executing during the event.

5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the content of the system memory is downloaded from a volatile memory device, the download of the content from the volatile memory device to the non-volatile memory device is completed in less than a predetermined period of time after detecting the event.

6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the content from the system memory is stored in the system memory of the device during operation of a vehicle.

7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the content is downloaded from a volatile memory device, and the volatile memory device is a dynamic random access memory device.

8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the non-volatile memory device is configured to provide the content to a computing device for analyzing the content.

9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the content downloaded to the non-volatile memory is configured for use in emulating the event.

         10 . A method, comprising:
detecting a first command in a computing system of an automotive to enter a standby state; determining, in response to the first command, that the computing system of the automotive has a first condition; restarting the computing system of the automotive prior to entering the standby state in response to the first command; detecting a second command in the computing system of the automotive to enter the standby state; determining, in response to the second command, that the computing system of the automotive has a second condition; and entering the standby state in response to the second command without restarting the computing system of the automotive.

         11 . A method, comprising:
accessing a system memory of a vehicle in response to a predetermined event associated with operations of the vehicle; and storing a copy of content from the system memory into a non-volatile memory.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the predetermined event comprises detecting a collision.

13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising analyzing an output from an artificial neural network to identify an object based at least in part on the content from the system memory.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the content from the system memory is configured for analyzing to determine whether to update software executing on the vehicle that performs object detection.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the analyzing the content from the system memory comprises analyzing a function of the software.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the software controls navigation of the vehicle.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising extracting the content copied from the system memory from the non-volatile memory and sending, over a wireless network, to a server for analysis.

18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the system memory comprises of volatile memory.

19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein an output from an artificial neural network classifies the predetermined event associated with operations of the vehicle based at least in part on the content copied from the system memory.

20 . A non-transitory computer storage medium storing instructions which, when executed on a computing device, cause the computing device to:
detecting a first command in a computing system of an automotive to enter a standby state; determining, in response to the first command, that the computing system of the automotive has a first condition; restarting the computing system of the automotive prior to entering the standby state in response to the first command; detecting a second command in the computing system of the automotive to enter the standby state; determining, in response to the second command, that the computing system of the automotive has a second condition; and entering the standby state in response to the second command without restarting the computing system of the automotive.
