Installation system and method for mounting devices
Abstract
An installation system and method for mounting an electrical support apparatus on adjacent mounting substrates, such as wall studs or ceiling joists. The installation system comprises one or more mounting brackets that are configured to be removably mounted to the substrates. The electrical support apparatus includes one or more installation webs that a configured to be inserted between the mounting substrate and the mounting brackets. When the installation webs are inserted in this way, one or more fasteners can be attached to secure the installation webs to the substrate. The fasteners are inserted through mounting openings that have a diameter larger than the largest diameter of the fastener. The one or more mounting backets may then be removed such that only the electrical support apparatus remains.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An installation system for mounting devices, comprising:
a removable bracket configured for engaging an installation web on mounting devices; said removable bracket comprising a body having a central mount hole; a first spacer and a second spacer oppositely positioned about said central mount hole; said first spacer and second spacer defining a through-gap therebetween; a first spacer aperture passing through said first spacer and said body; and a second spacer aperture passing through said second spacer and said body.
2 . The installation system of claim 1 , wherein a center line intersects said central mount hole.
3 . The installation system of claim 1 , wherein the central mount hole has a dimension configured to be larger than a corresponding dimension of a fastener, such that the fastener is passable through the central mount hole.
4 . The installation system of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of ancillary holes about said central mount hole.
5 . The installation system of claim 4 , wherein each of the plurality of ancillary holes has a dimension configured to be larger than a corresponding dimension of a fastener, such that the fastener is passable through the one of the plurality of ancillary holes.
6 . The installation system of claim 1 , further comprising a variable spacer proximate to the first spacer, said variable spacer configured to vary a dimension of the through-gap.
7 . The installation system of claim 6 , further comprising a spacer channel configured to enable repositioning of the variable spacer.
8 . The installation system of claim 1 , wherein the removable bracket comprises a first removable bracket and a second removable bracket.
9 . The installation system of claim 8 , wherein each of the first removeable bracket and the second removable bracket comprise a plurality of ancillary holes about the central mount hole.
10 . A method for installing a mounting device using the installation system of claim 1 , comprising the steps of:
Providing at least one removable bracket and a mounting device having at least one substrate interface; Designating an alignment point on a receiving substrate; Aligning the alignment point with the center line on the at least one removable bracket; Superposing the at least one removable bracket over the receiving substrate; Removably mounting the at least one removable bracket onto the receiving substrate; Inserting the at least one substrate interface into the through-gap formed between the first spacer and second spacer on the at least one removable bracket; Passing at least one fastener through one of a plurality of ancillary holes about the central mount hole on the at least one removable bracket; Attaching the at least one fastener to the receiving substrate through the substrate interface so as to fix the substrate interface to the receiving substrate; and Removing the at least one removable bracket from the receiving substrate.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the receiving substrate comprises a wall stud or a ceiling joist.
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the providing step comprising providing a first removable bracket and a second removable bracket and the mounting device has a first substrate interface and a second substrate interface.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the first substrate interface and the second substrate interface are disposed on opposite sides of the mounting device.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the receiving substrate comprises a first ceiling joist adjacent to a second ceiling joist.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the first removable bracket is removably mounted onto the first ceiling joist and the second removable bracket is removably mounted onto the second ceiling joist.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the inserting step comprises inserting the first substrate interface into the through-gap formed between the first spacer and second spacer on the first removable bracket and the second substrate interface into the through-gap formed between the first spacer and second spacer on the second removable bracket.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein passing step comprises passing a first fastener through one of a plurality of ancillary holes about the central mount hole on the first removable bracket and a second fastener through one of a plurality of ancillary holes about the central mount hole on the second removable bracket.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the attaching step comprises attaching the first fastener to the receiving substrate over which the first removable bracket is superposed through the first substrate interface and the second fastener to the receiving substrate over which the second removable bracket is superposed through the second substrate interface.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the removing step comprises removing the first removable bracket and removing the second removable bracket.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
