Abstract

The present disclosure relates to systems and processes for interacting with mapping applications. In one example, a virtual assistant server can efficiently communicate with a map server to provide a user with map data in response to spoken user requests received at a user device. In another example, communicatively coupled electronic devices can be synchronized such that a location marker generated on one device can be displayed on the other device. In another example, an electronic device can display simplified views of individual route directions that can be updated based on movement of the user or in response to user requests. In another example, an electronic device can selectively display an interface including a current location of a user or an interface including a route to a predicted destination based on contextual information associated with the user. The interfaces can include affordances for launching an associated mapping application.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A system, comprising:
 one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
 receiving:
 data corresponding to an audio input comprising user speech; and
 contextual data representing a context of the user speech;

 generating a textual representation of the user speech based on the data corresponding to the audio input;
 transmitting, to a map server, data associated with the textual representation of the user speech and the contextual data; and
 receiving, from the map server, map data.

         2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the contextual data comprises a location of the electronic device.

         3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the contextual data comprises a software state of the electronic device.

         4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the contextual data comprises a content being displayed by the electronic device.

         5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the contextual data comprises a current state of a mapping application running on the electronic device.

         6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the current state of the mapping application comprises a current view of the mapping application being displayed on the electronic device.

         7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the current state of the mapping application comprises a length of time that the current view of the mapping application has been displayed.

         8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the contextual data comprises length of time since the electronic device received a user input.

         9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the map data comprises:
 one or more map tiles; a set of geographic coordinates; routing information from a start location to an end location; or traffic data.

         10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the electronic device is a watch.

         11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the electronic device is a mobile phone.

         12 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of a system with one or more electronic devices, the one or more programs including instructions for:
 receiving:
 data corresponding to an audio input comprising user speech; and
 contextual data representing a context of the user speech;
   generating a textual representation of the user speech based on the data corresponding to the audio input; transmitting, to a map server, data associated with the textual representation of the user speech and the contextual data; and receiving, from the map server, map data.

         13 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 at a system:
 receiving:
 data corresponding to an audio input comprising user speech; and
 contextual data representing a context of the user speech;

 generating a textual representation of the user speech based on the data corresponding to the audio input;
 transmitting, to a map server, data associated with the textual representation of the user speech and the contextual data; and
 receiving, from the map server, map data.
