Abstract

An electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a current collector and an active material layer on the current collector, wherein the active material layer includes flake-shaped polyethylene particles, and the flake-shaped polyethylene particles have an average particle size (D50) of about 1 μm to about 8 μm. A rechargeable lithium battery includes the electrode including the flake-shaped polyethylene particles.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery, comprising:
a current collector, and an active material layer on the current collector, wherein the active material layer comprises flake-shaped polyethylene particles, and the flake-shaped polyethylene particles have a ratio of a major axis length to a minor axis length in a range from 1 to 5.

2 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 1 , wherein the flake-shaped polyethylene particles have an average particle size (D50) of 1 μm to 8 μm.

3 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 1 , wherein the flake-shaped polyethylene particles have a thickness of 0.2 μm to 4 μm.

4 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 1 , wherein the active material layer comprises an active material and further comprises at least one selected from a conductive material and a binder.

5 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 1 , wherein the flake-shaped polyethylene particles are included in an amount of 0.1 wt % to 5 wt % based on a total weight of the active material layer.

6 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 1 , wherein the electrode further comprises a coating layer, and
the flake-shaped polyethylene particles are included in at least one selected from the active material layer and the coating layer.

7 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 6 , wherein the flake-shaped polyethylene particles are included in the coating layer.

8 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 7 , wherein the coating layer further comprises inorganic particles and a binder.

9 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 8 , wherein a weight ratio of the sum of the flake-shaped polyethylene particles and the inorganic particles to the binder is 80:20 to 99:1.

10 . The electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 8 , wherein a weight ratio of the flake-shaped polyethylene particles to the inorganic particles is 95:5 to 10:90.

11 . A rechargeable lithium battery comprising the electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery of claim 1 .
