Abstract

Methods of treating neuropathic pain in spinal cord injured individuals by administering levetiracetam or brivaracetam are described.

1 . A method of treating neuropathic pain in a spinal cord injured individual in need thereof, comprising administering 2-(2-oxo-4-propylpyrrolidin-1-yl)butanamide to the individual,
 wherein the neuropathic pain is perceived by the patient to be below the level of spinal cord injury.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the neuropathic pain is generated by spinal cord tissue caudal to the level of the spinal cord injury. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the 2-(2-oxo-4-propylpyrrolidin-1-yl)butanamide is administered below the level of the spinal cord injury. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the 2-(2-oxo-4-propylpyrrolidin-1-yl)butanamide is administered intrathecally.
