Abstract

Various embodiments are generally directed to copying data to a clipboard of a mobile device from a contactless card using NFC. A mobile device may issue a request to read data from the contactless card. The contactless card may generate encrypted data in response to the request. The mobile device may receive the encrypted data via NFC and transmit the encrypted data to a server for verification. The server may verify the encrypted data and transmit an indication of an account number for the contactless card to the mobile device. The mobile device may then copy the account number to a clipboard of the mobile device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A point-of-sale (POS) terminal, comprising:
 a processor circuit; and   a storage storing an application and instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:   cause, on a display device, presentation and indication to tap a contactless card on or near a surface of the POS terminal;   perform, via an interface, an exchange of data with the contactless card;   store, in a memory location allocated to a clipboard in a memory, a first portion of the data;   send, to a server, a second portion of the data to perform authentication on the second portion of the data;   receive, from the server, an indication of a successful performance of the authentication of the second portion of the data;   detect a request to copy the data from the memory location of the memory to at least one field; and   enable copying the first portion of data to the at least one field in response to the successful performance of the authentication.   
     
     
         2 . The terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the first portion of the data comprises an account number, an expiration date, a card verification value (CVV), or any combination thereof. 
     
     
         3 . The terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the second portion of the data is comprised in a message authentication code (MAC) cryptogram generated by contactless card. 
     
     
         4 . The terminal of  claim 3 , wherein the MAC cryptogram comprises a header and a shared secret. 
     
     
         5 . The terminal of  claim 4 , wherein the MAC cryptogram is further concatenated with one or more random numbers and encrypted with a diversified session key. 
     
     
         6 . The terminal of  claim 3 , wherein the MAC cryptogram is communicated in a near-field communication (NFC) Data Exchange Format (NDEF) message or in a uniform resource locator (URL) message. 
     
     
         7 . The terminal of  claim 2 , the storage storing instructions which, when executed by the processor circuit, cause the processor circuit to:
 identify a form comprising a plurality of fields, including a first field, a second field, and a third field;   determine that the first field is associated with the account number, the second field is associated with the expiration date, and the third field is associated with the CVV; and   paste, from the clipboard the account number to the first field, the expiration date to the second field, and the CVV to the third field.   
     
     
         8 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
 causing, by a processor circuit on a display device, presentation and indication to tap a contactless card on or near a surface of a computing device;   performing, via an interface, an exchange of data with the contactless card;   storing, in a memory location allocated to a clipboard in a memory, a first portion of the data;   sending, to a server, a second portion of the data to perform authentication on the second portion of the data;   receiving, from the server, an indication of a successful performance of the authentication of the second portion of the data;   detecting, by the processor circuit, a request to copy the data from the memory location of the memory to at least one field; and   copying the first portion of data to the at least one field in response to the successful performance of the authentication.   
     
     
         9 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 8 , wherein the first portion of the data comprises an account number, an expiration date, a card verification value (CVV), or any combination thereof. 
     
     
         10 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 8 , wherein the second portion of the data is comprised in a message authentication code (MAC) cryptogram generated by contactless card. 
     
     
         11 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 10 , wherein the MAC cryptogram comprises a header and a shared secret. 
     
     
         12 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , wherein the MAC cryptogram is further concatenated with one or more random numbers and encrypted with a diversified session key. 
     
     
         13 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , wherein the MAC cryptogram is communicated in a near-field communication (NFC) Data Exchange Format (NDEF) message or in a uniform resource locator (URL) message. 
     
     
         14 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 9 , comprising:
 identifying a form comprising a plurality of fields, including a first field, a second field, and a third field;   determining that the first field is associated with the account number, the second field is associated with the expiration date, and the third field is associated with the CVV; and   pasting, from the clipboard the account number to the first field, the expiration date to the second field, and the CVV to the third field.   
     
     
         15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:
 cause, on a display device, presentation and indication to tap a contactless card on or near a surface of a computing device;   perform, via an interface, an exchange of data with the contactless card;   store, in a memory location allocated to a clipboard in a memory, a first portion of the data;   send, to a server, a second portion of the data to perform authentication on the second portion of the data;   receive, from the server, an indication of a successful performance of the authentication of the second portion of the data;   detect a request to copy the data from the memory location of the memory to at least one field; and   copy the first portion of data to the at least one field in response to the successful performance of the authentication.   
     
     
         16 . The computer-readable storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the first portion of the data comprises an account number, an expiration date, a card verification value (CVV), or any combination thereof. 
     
     
         17 . The computer-readable storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the second portion of the data is comprised in a message authentication code (MAC) cryptogram generated by contactless card. 
     
     
         18 . The computer-readable storage medium of  claim 17 , wherein the MAC cryptogram comprises a header and a shared secret. 
     
     
         19 . The computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein the MAC cryptogram is further concatenated with one or more random numbers and encrypted with a diversified session key. 
     
     
         20 . The computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein the MAC cryptogram is communicated in a near-field communication (NFC) Data Exchange Format (NDEF) message or in a uniform resource locator (URL) message. 
     
     
         21 . The computer-readable storage medium of  claim 16 , comprising:
 identify a form comprising a plurality of fields, including a first field, a second field, and a third field;   determine that the first field is associated with the account number, the second field is associated with the expiration date, and the third field is associated with the CVV; and   paste, from the clipboard the account number to the first field, the expiration date to the second field, and the CVV to the third field.
