Abstract

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for distributed and parallel processing of data required for industry standard interfaces. A distributed processing system implements a plurality of computing subsystems including an enhanced recordkeeping subsystem and a plurality of participant subsystems. The enhanced recordkeeping subsystem maintains unit quantities for a plurality of users and provides to each participant subsystem a set of scaling factors from which multiple components of an industry standard interface can be derived by the participant systems in parallel, thereby reducing the requirements of centralized processing and network bandwidth of prior approaches.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A distributed processing system comprising a plurality of computing subsystems, wherein the plurality of computing subsystems implemented by a plurality of computers in a plurality of locations, and wherein the plurality of computing subsystems comprise:
 an enhanced recordkeeping subsystem,   a plurality of participant subsystems,   a vehicle accounting subsystem, and   a transfer agent subsystem,   wherein the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem is operable to execute instructions that cause the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem to perform operations comprising:   receiving, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem from the transfer agent subsystem, an update to quantities of units for unit holders maintained in a holder database of the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem;   receiving, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem from the vehicle accounting subsystem, a unit net asset value scaling factor;   providing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, to each participant subsystem of the plurality of participant subsystems, a set of scaling factors comprising the unit net asset value scaling factor and a unit uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor, and providing respective quantities of units for unit holders belonging to each participant subsystem;   computing, by each respective participant subsystem in parallel using the updated quantities of units and the unit net asset value scaling factor, updated asset values for each holder belonging to the participant subsystem;   computing, by each respective participant subsystem in parallel using the updated quantities for units and the uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor, updated uncontributed commitment values for each holder belonging to the participant subsystem; and   generating, by each participant subsystem, a respective report for each holder comprising the updated asset value and updated uncontributed commitment value derived from the holder's quantity of units.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the increase to the quantities of units is a result of receiving a subscription request, and wherein the operations further comprise:
 computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, a quantity of units for a holder corresponding to the subscription request; and   transmitting the quantity of units to the transfer agent subsystem.   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein computing the quantity of units subscribed for the holder comprises dividing a commitment amount by a sum of the scaling factors. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein computing the quantity of units comprises computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping system, the quantity of units without computing an asset value or unfunded commitment value for the holder corresponding to the subscription request. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise providing, by the enhanced recordkeeping system to a first participant subsystem that provided the subscription request, the computed quantity of units without providing an asset value or uncontributed commitment value for the holder. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 5 , wherein the operations further comprise computing, by the first participant subsystem, an asset value and uncontributed commitment value for the holder corresponding to the subscription request using the computed quantity of units received from the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, the unit net asset value scaling factor, and the unit UHC scaling factor. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein generating a respective report by each participant subsystem comprises generating reports by the plurality of participant subsystems at least partially in parallel. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the update to the quantities of units is a result of a resource return event, and wherein the operations further comprise:
 computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, an updated uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor.   
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein computing the updated uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor comprises computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, the uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor without computing updated uncontributed holder commitment values required for the reports. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 providing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, the updated uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor to each of the participant subsystems; and   computing, by the participant subsystems at least partially in parallel, updated uncontributed commitment values from the updated uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor and respective quantities of units for each holder.   
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the update to the quantities of units is a result of a resource call event, and wherein the operations further comprise:
 computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, a respective additional quantity of units for each holder; and   computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, an updated uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor.   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 providing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, the respected additional quantity of units to the plurality of participant subsystems and providing the updated uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor; and   computing, by the plurality of participant subsystems at least partially in parallel, updated asset values and updated uncontributed commitment values from the received updated quantity of units, the unit net asset scaling factor, and the updated uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor.   
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the decrease to the quantities of units is a result of receiving a redemption request, and wherein the operations further comprise:
 computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, a quantity of units for a holder corresponding to the redemption request; and   transmitting the quantity of units to the transfer agent subsystem.   
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise providing, by the enhanced recordkeeping system to a first participant subsystem that provided the redemption request, the computed quantity of units. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the operations further comprise computing, by the first participant subsystem, an asset value and uncontributed commitment value for the holder corresponding to the redemption request using the computed quantity of units received from the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, the unit net asset value scaling factor, and the unit UHC scaling factor. 
     
     
         16 . A method performed by a distributed processing system comprising a plurality of computing subsystems, wherein the plurality of computing subsystems are implemented by a plurality of computers in a plurality of locations, and wherein the plurality of computing subsystems comprise:
 an enhanced recordkeeping subsystem,   a plurality of participant subsystems,   a vehicle accounting subsystem, and   a transfer agent subsystem,   wherein the method comprises:   receiving, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem from the transfer agent subsystem, an update to quantities of units for unit holders maintained in a holder database of the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem;   receiving, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem from the vehicle accounting subsystem, a unit net asset value scaling factor;   providing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, to each participant subsystem of the plurality of participant subsystems, a set of scaling factors comprising the unit net asset value scaling factor and a unit uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor, and providing respective quantities of units for unit holders belonging to each participant subsystem;   computing, by each respective participant subsystem in parallel using the updated quantities of units and the unit net asset value scaling factor, updated asset values for each holder belonging to the participant subsystem;   computing, by each respective participant subsystem in parallel using the updated quantities for units and the uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor, updated uncontributed commitment values for each holder belonging to the participant subsystem; and   generating, by each participant subsystem, a respective report for each holder comprising the updated asset value and updated uncontributed commitment value derived from the holder's quantity of units.   
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the increase to the quantities of units is a result of receiving a subscription request, and wherein the operations further comprise:
 computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, a quantity of units for a holder corresponding to the subscription request; and   transmitting the quantity of units to the transfer agent subsystem.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein computing the quantity of units subscribed for the holder comprises dividing a commitment amount by a sum of the scaling factors. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein computing the quantity of units comprises computing, by the enhanced recordkeeping system, the quantity of units without computing an asset value or unfunded commitment value for the holder corresponding to the subscription request. 
     
     
         20 . One or more non-transitory computer storage media encoded with computer program instructions that when executed by a distributed processing system comprising a plurality of computing subsystems, cause the distributed processing system to implement a plurality of computing subsystems comprising:
 an enhanced recordkeeping subsystem,   a plurality of participant subsystems,   a vehicle accounting subsystem, and   a transfer agent subsystem,   and wherein the distributed processing system is configured perform operations comprising:   receiving, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem from the transfer agent subsystem, an update to quantities of units for unit holders maintained in a holder database of the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem;   receiving, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem from the vehicle accounting subsystem, a unit net asset value scaling factor;   providing, by the enhanced recordkeeping subsystem, to each participant subsystem of the plurality of participant subsystems, a set of scaling factors comprising the unit net asset value scaling factor and a unit uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor, and providing respective quantities of units for unit holders belonging to each participant subsystem;   computing, by each respective participant subsystem in parallel using the updated quantities of units and the unit net asset value scaling factor, updated asset values for each holder belonging to the participant subsystem;   computing, by each respective participant subsystem in parallel using the updated quantities for units and the uncontributed holder commitment scaling factor, updated uncontributed commitment values for each holder belonging to the participant subsystem; and   generating, by each participant subsystem, a respective report for each holder comprising the updated asset value and updated uncontributed commitment value derived from the holder's quantity of units.
