Abstract

The extendable tire deflation system is an effective and efficient air deployment tire deflation tool that may deflate the tires on vehicles of suspects fleeing from a law enforcement vehicle. To accomplish this, the system comprises an extendable tire deflation tool housed within a tool chamber, that is mounted onto a law enforcement vehicle. The tire deflation tool may be deployed into a plurality of lanes across a multi-lane roadway, from the tool chamber from within the law enforcement vehicle. The device comprises a braking system which provides the officer control over the distance across which the deflation tool may be extended. Further, the tire deflation tool may be deployed when the fleeing suspect's vehicle drive up to the deployment vehicle from the front or rear. Thus, the device enables law-enforcement officers to deflate fleeing vehicle's tires from the safety of their vehicle, making deployment quicker and more effective.
