Abstract

A device for repetitive nerve stimulation for development of muscle by means of inductive magnetic fields, having a stimulation coil replaceably attached to a stand and accommodated in a plastic housing, and a pulse generator for electrically actuating the stimulation coil.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 - 30 . (canceled)

         31 . A treatment device for generating a time-varying magnetic field comprising:
a stimulation coil; a pulse capacitor; and a fan, wherein the pulse capacitor is configured to be discharged to the stimulation coil such that the stimulation coil generates the time-varying magnetic field, wherein the stimulation coil is encapsulated in a plastic housing, wherein the plastic housing comprises an inlet opening configured to provide air to the stimulation coil, wherein the fan is configured to aspirate air towards the stimulation coil through the inlet opening such that the stimulation coil is cooled, and wherein the plastic housing comprises a concave curvature adapted to be positioned proximate to the patient.

32 . The treatment device of claim 31 , wherein the time-varying magnetic field is configured to be applied to a body region comprising at least one of an abdomen, a buttock, or a thigh.

33 . The treatment device of claim 32 , wherein a shape of the stimulation coil differs depending on the body region.

34 . The treatment device of claim 31 , wherein the stimulation coil comprises a conductor having a cross sectional area in a range of 1 cm 2 to 2 cm 2 .

35 . The treatment device of claim 31 , wherein the plastic housing is replaceable.

36 . The treatment device of claim 31 , wherein the fan is disposed on an opposite side of the plastic housing with respect to the stimulation coil.

37 . The treatment device of claim 31 , wherein the fan is configured to direct air from the stimulation coil in a direction perpendicular to the stimulation coil.

         38 . A treatment device for generating a time-varying magnetic field, comprising:
a stimulation coil encapsulated in a housing; a pulse capacitor configured to be discharged to the stimulation coil such that the stimulation coil generates the time-varying magnetic field; and a fan configured to aspirate air into the housing through an inlet opening to cool the stimulation coil, wherein the fan is configured to direct the air through the housing from the inlet opening to an outlet opening, and wherein the housing comprises a concave curvature adapted to be placed closer to the patient than the inlet opening and the outlet opening.

39 . The treatment device of claim 38 , wherein a retaining element is disposed between the stimulation coil and a protective cover such that the stimulation coil is spaced from the protective cover.

40 . The treatment device of claim 38 , wherein the time-varying magnetic field is configured to be applied to a body region comprising at least one of an abdomen, a buttock, or a thigh.

41 . The treatment device of claim 38 , wherein a shape of the stimulation coil differs depending on the body region.

42 . The treatment device of claim 38 , wherein the housing is replaceable.

43 . The treatment device of claim 38 , wherein the fan is disposed on an opposite side of the housing with respect to the stimulation coil.

44 . The treatment device of claim 38 , wherein the fan is configured to direct air from the stimulation coil in a direction perpendicular to the stimulation coil.

         45 . A treatment device for generating a time-varying magnetic field comprising:
a stimulation coil encapsulated in a plastic housing; a pulse capacitor configured to be discharged to the stimulation coil such that the stimulation coil generates the time-varying magnetic field; and a fan configured to aspirate air into the plastic housing through an inlet opening to cool the stimulation coil, wherein the fan is configured to direct the air through the plastic housing from the inlet opening to an outlet opening, wherein the plastic housing comprises a concave curvature adapted to be placed closer to the patient than the inlet opening and the outlet opening, and wherein the plastic housing is removably coupled to the treatment device.

46 . The treatment device of claim 45 , wherein the concave curvature is covered by a protective cover.

47 . The treatment device of claim 45 , wherein the fan is disposed on an opposite site of the housing with respect to the stimulation coil.

48 . The treatment device of claim 45 , wherein a shape of the stimulation coil differs depending on the body region.

49 . The treatment device of claim 45 , wherein the stimulation coil comprises a conductor having a cross sectional area in a range of 1 cm 2 to 2 cm 2 .

50 . The treatment device of claim 45 , wherein the fan is configured to direct air from the stimulation coil in a direction perpendicular to the stimulation coil.
