User mobility method and device

Abstract

A base station (BS), a User Equipment (UE), and a method performed by a BS and/or a UE are provided. The method includes transmitting, by the BS, a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message to a User Equipment (UE), the RRC message indicating whether at least one of a Radio Link Control (RLC) entity and a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) entity is to be reestablished, wherein the RRC message configures the UE to reestablish the RLC entity in a case that the RRC message indicates that the RLC entity is to be reestablished, and the RRC message configures the UE to reestablish the PDCP entity in a case that the RRC message indicates that the PDCP entity is to be reestablished.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method performed by a base station, the method comprising:
 transmitting a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message to a User Equipment (UE), the RRC message indicating whether at least one of a Radio Link Control (RLC) entity and a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) entity is to be reestablished, wherein
 the RRC message configures the UE to reestablish the RLC entity in a case that the RRC message indicates that the RLC entity is to be reestablished, and 
 the RRC message configures the UE to reestablish the PDCP entity in a case that the RRC message indicates that the PDCP entity is to be reestablished. 
   
     
     
         2 . A base station, comprising:
 transmitting circuitry configured to transmit a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message to a User Equipment (UE), the RRC message indicating whether at least one of a Radio Link Control (RLC) entity and a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) entity is to be reestablished, wherein
 the RRC message configures the UE to reestablish the RLC entity in a case that the RRC message indicates that the RLC entity is to be reestablished, and 
 the RRC message configures the UE to reestablish the PDCP entity in a case that the RRC message indicates that the PDCP entity is to be reestablished. 
   
     
     
         3 . A User Equipment (UE), comprising:
 receiving circuitry configured to receive, from a base station, a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message; and   processing circuitry, coupled to the receiving circuitry, configured to: 
 determine whether the RRC message includes a first indication indicating that a Radio Link Control (RLC) entity is to be reestablished; 
 reestablish the RLC entity in response to determining that the RRC message includes the first indication; 
 determine whether the RRC message includes a second indication indicating that a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) entity is to be reestablished; and 
 reestablish the PDCP entity in response to determining that the RRC message includes the second indication.
