Abstract
User-involved battle development with strategic or tactical elements in a game is enabled. A method, implemented in a computer including a control unit, for providing a battle game in which a user repeatedly attacks and defends against an opponent using a plurality of objects placed in a plurality of areas arranged in a matrix, includes: a selection step of causing the user to select an area from the plurality of areas, and holding the area which has been already selected as a selected area; a first execution step of causing an object placed in the selected area, to execute a first action; a determination step of determining whether or not a combination of an already selected area and the currently selected area matches at least one line which is any of a row, a column, and a diagonal of the matrix; and a second execution step of causing an object to execute a second action, in the case where the determination step determines that the combination matches the at least one line.

7 . A method for controlling a display in a battle game between a first user and a second user, the method being performed by at least one processor, the method comprising:
arranging one or more first objects for the first user in a first set of object locations, each of the one or more first objects occupying one or more object locations among the first set of object locations, wherein each location of the first set of object locations is assigned a respective unique identifier within the first set of object locations; arranging one or more second objects for the second user in a second set of object locations, each of the one or more second objects occupying one or more object locations among the second set of object locations, wherein each location of the second set of object locations is assigned a respective unique identifier within the second set of object locations; and executing a plurality of turns for a side of the first user and a plurality of turns for a side of the second user,
wherein each turn for the side of the first user comprises:
selecting, in response to an operation from the first user, a first identifier among the respective identifiers assigned to the first set of object locations, setting a status of a first object location among the first set of object locations to a selected status when the first object location is associated with the first identifier, when a first object among the one or more first objects occupies the first object location, taking a first action by the first object at a first range of actions associated with the first object, and when an arrangement of locations of the first set of object locations, set to the selected status, satisfies a first pattern, based on the first action taken by the first object, further taking a second action different from the first action;
wherein each turn for the side of the second user comprises:
selecting, in response to an operation from the second user, a second identifier among the respective identifiers assigned to the second set of object locations, setting a status of a second object location among the second set of object locations to the selected status when the second object location is associated with the second identifier, when a second object among the one or more second objects occupies the second object location, taking a third action by the second object at a second range of actions associated with the second object, and when an arrangement of locations of the second set of object locations, set to the selected status, satisfies a second pattern, based on the third action taken by the second object, further taking a fourth action different from the third action.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the first range and the second range is an attack range.
9 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising:
in each turn for the side of the first user, varying a first parameter of objects of the one or more second objects due to the first action and/or the second action, and when the first parameter after varied satisfies a first condition, setting to the selected status object locations among the second set of object locations occupied by the one or more second objects having the first parameter satisfying the first condition, and in each turn for the side of the second user, varying a second parameter of objects of the one or more first objects due to the third action and/or the fourth action, and when the second parameter after varied satisfies a second condition, setting to the selected status object locations among the first set of object locations occupied by the one or more first objects having the second parameter satisfying the second condition.
10 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising setting at least one first object location among the first set of object locations and at least one second object location among the second set of object locations to the selected status before conducting the plurality of turns for the side of the first user and the plurality of turns for the side of the second user.
11 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the operation from the first user is an operation to specify at least one of the respective identifiers assigned to the first set of object locations.
12 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the operation from the first user is an operation to specify at least one object location of the first set of object locations, thereby at least one identifier, assigned to the at least one object location, is selected.
13 . The method of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the first action and the third action is a first attack action; and
wherein at least one of the second action and the fourth action is a second attack action with a higher power than the first attack action.
14 . The method of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the first action and the third action comprises at least one of an attack, a defense, a recovery, and an ability improvement.
15 . The method of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the second action and the fourth action comprises at least one of a special attack with higher attack power than a normal attack, an attribute attack, a full recovery, a skill improvement, and an attack made by summoning a monster.
16 . The method of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the first pattern and the second pattern comprises at least one of a row pattern, a column pattern, and a diagonal pattern.
17 . The method of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the first action and the third action is a recovery action; and
wherein at least one of the second action and the fourth action is a full recovery action.
18 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the first set of object locations and the second set of object locations are non-overlapping.
19 . A system for controlling a display in a battle game between a first user and a second user, the system comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one memory for storing computer instructions configured to cause the at least one processor to:
arrange one or more first objects for the first user in a first set of object locations, each of the one or more first objects occupying one or more object locations among the first set of object locations, wherein each location of the first set of object locations is assigned a respective unique identifier within the first set of object locations;
arrange one or more second objects for the second user in a second set of object locations, each of the one or more second objects occupying one or more object locations among the second set of object locations, wherein each location of the second set of object locations is assigned a respective unique identifier within the second set of object locations; and
execute a plurality of turns for a side of the first user and a plurality of turns for a side of the second user,
wherein each turn for the side of the first user the stored computer instructions are configured to cause the at least one processor to:
select, in response to an operation from the first user, a first identifier among the respective identifiers assigned to the first set of object locations, set a status of a first object location among the first set of object locations to a selected status when the first object location is associated with the first identifier, when a first object among the one or more first objects occupies the first object location, take a first action by the first object at a first range of actions associated with the first object, and when an arrangement of locations of the first set of object locations, set to the selected status, satisfies a first pattern, based on the first action taken by the first object, further take a second action different from the first action;
wherein each turn for the side of the second user the stored computer instructions are configured to cause the at least one processor to:
select, in response to an operation from the second user, a second identifier among the respective identifiers assigned to the second set of object locations, set a status of a second object location among the second set of object locations to the selected status when the second object location is associated with the second identifier, when a second object among the one or more second objects occupies the second object location, take a third action by the second object at a second range of actions associated with the second object, and when an arrangement of locations of the second set of object locations, set to the selected status, satisfies a second pattern, based on the third action taken by the second object, further take a fourth action different from the third action.
20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the stored computer instructions are further configured to cause the at least one processor to:
in each turn for the side of the first user, vary a first parameter of objects of the one or more second objects due to the first action and/or the second action, and when the first parameter after varied satisfies a first condition, set to the selected status object locations among the second set of object locations occupied by the one or more second objects having the first parameter satisfying the first condition, and in each turn for the side of the second user, vary a second parameter of objects of the one or more first objects due to the third action and/or the fourth action, and when the second parameter after varied satisfies a second condition, set to the selected status object locations among the first set of object locations occupied by the one or more first objects having the second parameter satisfying the second condition.
21 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the operation from the first user is an operation to specify at least one of the respective identifiers assigned to the first set of object locations.
22 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the operation from the first user is an operation to specify at least one object location of the first set of object locations, thereby at least one identifier, assigned to the at least one object location, is selected.
23 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing thereon a program for causing one or a plurality of computers to execute:
arranging one or more first objects for the first user in a first set of object locations, each of the one or more first objects occupying one or more object locations among the first set of object locations, wherein each location of the first set of object locations is assigned a respective unique identifier within the first set of object locations; arranging one or more second objects for the second user in a second set of object locations, each of the one or more second objects occupying one or more object locations among the second set of object locations, wherein each location of the second set of object locations is assigned a respective unique identifier within the second set of object locations; and executing a plurality of turns for a side of the first user and a plurality of turns for a side of the second user,
wherein each turn for the side of the first user comprises:
selecting, in response to an operation from the first user, a first identifier among the respective identifiers assigned to the first set of object locations, setting a status of a first object location among the first set of object locations to a selected status when the first object location is associated with the first identifier, when a first object among the one or more first objects occupies the first object location, taking a first action by the first object at a first range of actions associated with the first object, and when an arrangement of locations of the first set of object locations, set to the selected status, satisfies a first pattern, based on the first action taken by the first object, further taking a second action different from the first action;
wherein each turn for the side of the second user comprises:
selecting, in response to an operation from the second user, a second identifier among the respective identifiers assigned to the second set of object locations, setting a status of a second object location among the second set of object locations to the selected status when the second object location is associated with the second identifier, when a second object among the one or more second objects occupies the second object location, taking a third action by the second object at a second range of actions associated with the second object, and when an arrangement of locations of the second set of object locations, set to the selected status, satisfies a second pattern, based on the third action taken by the second object, further taking a fourth action different from the third action.
24 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 23 , wherein the program further causes the one or the plurality of computers to execute:
in each turn for the side of the first user, varying a first parameter of objects of the one or more second objects due to the first action and/or the second action, and when the first parameter after varied satisfies a first condition, setting to the selected status object locations among the second set of object locations occupied by the one or more second objects having the first parameter satisfying the first condition, and in each turn for the side of the second user, varying a second parameter of objects of the one or more first objects due to the third action and/or the fourth action, and when the second parameter after varied satisfies a second condition, setting to the selected status object locations among the first set of object locations occupied by the one or more first objects having the second parameter satisfying the second condition.
25 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 23 , wherein the operation from the first user is an operation to specify at least one object location of the first set of object locations, thereby at least one identifier, assigned to the at least one object location, is selected.
26 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 23 , wherein at least one of the first action and the third action is a first attack action; and
