Abstract

The present invention relates to a vertical wind turbine ( 1 ) with a plurality of vertical blades ( 7 ), which are each supported such that they are motor-driven pivotable around a respective blade rotation axis (C 7 ) independently of one another, and are rotatable on a common circular path (K) around a vertical rotor rotation axis (C 2 ), and to a method for operating the vertical wind turbine ( 1 ), wherein angular positions of vertical blades ( 7 ) of the vertical wind turbine ( 1 ), which are each supported such that they are rotatable around a respective vertical rotor rotation axis (C 2 ) and are motor-driven pivotable around a respective blade rotation axis (C 7 ) independently of one another, are being predetermined. According to the invention, the vertical wind turbine ( 1 ) is operated in a particularly efficient and material-protecting way in that the angular positions of the blades ( 7 ) are each predetermined by means of at least one pitch motor ( 27 ) at least partially supporting the respective blade ( 7 ).

1 . A vertical wind turbine, comprising:
 a plurality of vertical blades each fastened to and motor-driven pivotably around a respective vertical blade axis independently of other vertical blades, and the vertical blades are rotatably supported to travel along a common circular path (K) around a vertical rotor rotation axis (C 2 ); and   a plurality of pitch motors, each pitch motor having a motor shaft,   wherein each vertical blade axis is operatively connected to the motor shaft of a respective pitch motor from the plurality of pitch motors for motor-driven pivoting of the vertical blade that is fastened to the vertical blade axis, and   wherein the motor shaft of each pitch motor extends concentrically to a respective blade rotation axis.   
     
     
         2 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 1 , further comprising a control device that controls the pitch motors; and at least one wind sensor connected to the control device, wherein the at least one wind sensor senses a wind characteristic. 
     
     
         3 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 2 , wherein the wind characteristic is wind speed and/or wind direction. 
     
     
         4 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 2 , wherein the at least one wind sensor is located at a pitch motor from the plurality of pitch motors. 
     
     
         5 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 2 , wherein the at least one wind sensor is mounted on a rod that is fastened to the pitch motor, the rod extending beyond an outer edge of the vertical blade connected to the pitch motor. 
     
     
         6 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 5 , wherein the at least one wind sensor is mounted on a distal end of the rod oriented away from the vertical blade. 
     
     
         7 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 2 , further comprising a rotor hub, wherein the wind sensor is located on a mast positioned centrally on the rotor hub. 
     
     
         8 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 7 , wherein the wind sensor extends vertically beyond an upper end of the vertical blades. 
     
     
         9 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 2 , further comprising a motor hub, wherein the wind sensor is positioned at the motor hub. 
     
     
         10 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 1 , further comprising a control device that controls the pitch motors; and a same number of wind sensors as the vertical blades connected to the control device, wherein each wind sensor senses a wind characteristic. 
     
     
         11 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 10 , wherein the wind characteristic is wind speed and/or wind direction. 
     
     
         12 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 10 , further comprising a rotor hub, wherein each wind sensor is fastened to an end of a rod that extends away from the rotor hub. 
     
     
         13 . The vertical wind turbine according to  claim 10 , wherein each wind sensor is offset from the vertical blades in order to avoid wind shadowing by the vertical blades.
