Systems and methods for detecting an intentional leak characteristic curve for a respiratory therapy system
Abstract
A plurality of flow rate values associated with pressurized air directed to an airway of a user of a respiratory therapy system is received. A plurality of pressure values associated with the pressurized air directed to the airway of the user is received. A first time associated with a first breath of the user and a second time associated with a second breath of the user are identified. The plurality of flow rate values is filtered based at least in part on the identified first time and the identified second time. The filtering produces a subset of the plurality of flow rate values. An intentional leak characteristic curve for the respiratory therapy system is determined using at least two of the subset of the plurality of flow rate values and the corresponding pressure values for said at least two of the subset of the plurality of flow rate values.

128 . A method for determining a user interface issue with a respiratory therapy system, the method comprising:
determining, based on a plurality of flow rate values and a plurality of pressure values corresponding to the plurality of flow rate values, an intentional leak characteristic curve for the respiratory therapy system; determining, based on the intentional leak characteristic curve, an occurrence of an unintentional leak; and determining, based on the occurrence of the unintentional leak, that the user interface issue with the respiratory therapy system exists.
129 . The method of claim 128 , wherein the user interface issue is one or more of an issue associated with a user position, a user interface tightness, a user interface age, and condition of a user interface seal associated with the respiratory therapy system.
130 . The method of claim 128 , wherein the occurrence of the unintentional leak is determined based on a total flow rate {tilde over (Q)}t and an average vent flow {tilde over (Q)}v.
131 . The method of claim 130 , wherein the occurrence of the unintentional leak is determined based on the total flow rate {tilde over (Q)}t being greater than the average vent flow {tilde over (Q)}v.
132 . The method of claim 128 , wherein the determining the intentional leak characteristic curve comprises:
receiving the plurality of flow rate values, wherein the plurality of flow rate values are associated with pressurized air directed to an airway of a user of the respiratory therapy system; receiving the plurality of pressure values, wherein the plurality of pressure values are associated with the pressurized air directed to the airway of the user, each of the plurality of pressure values corresponding to a respective one of the plurality of flow rate values; identifying a first time associated with a first breath of the user and a second time associated with a second breath of the user; filtering the plurality of flow rate values based at least in part on the identified first time and the identified second time, the filtering producing a subset of the plurality of flow rate values; and wherein the intentional leak characteristic curve is determined using at least two of the subset of the plurality of values and the corresponding pressure values for the at least two of the subset of the plurality of flow rate values.
133 . The method of claim 132 , wherein the intentional leak characteristic curve is calculated using the equation:

wherein Z is the intentional leak characteristic curve, P is a pressure value of the plurality of pressure values, Q is a flow rate value of the plurality of flow rate values, k 1 is a first constant, and k 2 is a second constant.
134 . The method of claim 128 , further comprising:
determining, based at least in part on the determined intentional leak characteristic curve, a diffuser loss.
135 . The method of claim 128 , further comprising:
determining, based on the user interface issue with the respiratory therapy system, a recommendation to address the user interface issue.
136 . The method of claim 135 , wherein the recommendation is associated with one or more of user interface fit, user interface tightness, user interface replacement, user interface adjustment, and body position.
137 . The method of claim 135 , further comprising:
presenting, to a user of the respiratory therapy system, an indication of the recommendation.
138 . A system for determining a user interface issue with a respiratory therapy system, the system comprising:
a flow rate sensor, wherein the flow rate sensor is configured to detect flow rate values associated with the respiratory therapy system; a pressure sensor, wherein the pressure sensor is configured to detect pressure values associated with the respiratory therapy system; a control system, wherein the control system is configured to:
determine, based on a plurality of flow rate values and a plurality of pressure values corresponding to the plurality of flow rate values, an intentional leak characteristic curve for the respiratory therapy system;
determine, based on the intentional leak characteristic curve, an occurrence of an unintentional leak; and
determine, based on the occurrence of the unintentional leak, that the user interface issue with the respiratory therapy system exists.
139 . The system of claim 138 , wherein the user interface issue is one or more of an issue associated with a user position, a user interface tightness, a user interface age, and condition of a user interface seal associated with the respiratory therapy system.
140 . The system of claim 138 , wherein the occurrence of the unintentional leak is determined based on a total flow rate {tilde over (Q)}t and an average vent flow {tilde over (Q)}v.

receive, the plurality of flow rate values, wherein the plurality of flow rate values are associated with pressurized air directed to an airway of a user of the respiratory therapy system; receive the plurality of pressure values, wherein the plurality of pressure values are associated with the pressurized air directed to the airway of the user, each of the plurality of pressure values corresponding to a respective one of the plurality of flow rate values; identify a first time associated with a first breath of the user and a second time associated with a second breath of the user; filter the plurality of flow rate values based at least in part on the identified first time and the identified second time, the filtering producing a subset of the plurality of flow rate values; and wherein the intentional leak characteristic curve is determined using at least two of the subset of the plurality of values and the corresponding pressure values for the at least two of the subset of the plurality of flow rate values.
143 . The system of claim 142 , wherein the intentional leak characteristic curve is calculated using the equation:
