Abstract
The systems and methods provide for novel a triggering mode that allows the patient to trigger or initiate the delivery of a breath during ventilation on a ventilator. Further, the systems and methods provide for triggering ventilation utilizing a statistical trigger mode. Additionally, the systems and methods provide for analyzing and/or displaying information related to a potential change in a triggering threshold for a currently utilized breath type.

21 . A medical ventilator system comprising
at least one sensor; at least one processor; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the ventilator system to perform operations comprising:
monitoring respiratory data with at least one sensor;
detecting an active patient trigger based on an active trigger setting and the respiratory data;
detecting one or more potential patient triggers based on the one or more potential trigger settings and the respiratory data;
delivering a breath in response to the detection of the active patient trigger;
comparing the active patient trigger to the one or more potential patient triggers;
determining that one of the one or more potential trigger setting reduced trigger time and decreased a number of false triggers based on the comparison; and
in response to the determination, automatically implementing the determined potential trigger setting as an active trigger setting for a subsequently delivered breath.
22 . The medical ventilator system of claim 21 , further comprising a display and wherein the operations further comprise displaying information about the active patient trigger and the one or more potential patient triggers.
23 . The medical ventilator system of claim 22 , wherein displaying the information comprising:
displaying an active indicator on a patient waveform where the active patient trigger is detected; and displaying a potential indicator on the patient waveform where each of the one or more potential patient triggers is detected.
24 . The medical ventilator system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more potential trigger settings includes at least two different potential trigger settings.
25 . The medical ventilator system of claim 24 , further comprising a display and wherein the operations further comprise:
displaying an active indicator on a patient waveform in response to detecting the active patient trigger; and displaying potential indicators on the patient waveform in response to detecting each of the one or more potential patient triggers for the two different potential trigger settings.
26 . The medical ventilator system of claim 21 , wherein the operations further comprise determining difference statistics based on the comparison of the active patient trigger to the one or more potential patient triggers.
27 . The medical ventilator system of claim 26 , further comprising a display and wherein the operations further comprise displaying the difference statistics for each potential patient trigger setting.
28 . The medical ventilator system of claim 26 , further comprising a display and wherein the operations further comprise displaying the difference statistics for each potential patient trigger setting.
29 . The medical ventilator system of claim 24 , wherein:
the active trigger setting is a first flow trigger threshold, the at least two different potential trigger settings are a second flow trigger threshold and a third flow trigger threshold, and the first flow trigger threshold, the second flow trigger threshold, and the third flow trigger threshold are different.
30 . A method implemented by a ventilator for analyzing potential trigger sensitivities, the method comprising:
monitoring respiratory data with at least one sensor; detecting an active patient trigger based on an active trigger setting and the respiratory data; detecting one or more potential patient triggers based on the one or more potential trigger settings and the respiratory data; delivering a breath in response to the detection of the active patient trigger; displaying information about the active patient trigger and the one or more potential patient triggers; comparing the active patient trigger to the one or more potential patient triggers; determining that one of the one or more potential trigger setting reduced trigger time and decreased a number of false triggers based on the comparison; and in response to the determination, automatically implementing the determined potential trigger setting as an active trigger setting for a subsequently delivered breath.
31 . The method of claim 30 , wherein displaying the information comprises:
displaying an active indicator on a patient waveform where the active patient trigger is detected; and displaying a potential indicator on the patient waveform where each of the one or more potential patient triggers is detected.
32 . The method of claim 30 , wherein the one or more potential trigger settings includes at least two different potential trigger settings.
33 . The method of claim 32 , wherein displaying the information comprises:
displaying an active indicator on a patient waveform in response to detecting the active patient trigger; and displaying potential indicators on the patient waveform in response to detecting each of the one or more potential patient triggers for the two different potential trigger settings.
34 . The method of claim 30 , further comprising determining difference statistics based on the comparison of the active patient trigger to the one or more potential patient triggers, wherein displaying the information includes displaying the difference statistics for each potential patient trigger setting.
35 . The method of claim 32 , wherein:
the active trigger setting is a first flow trigger threshold, the at least two different potential trigger settings are a second flow trigger threshold and a third flow trigger threshold, and the first flow trigger threshold, the second flow trigger threshold, and the third flow trigger threshold are different.
36 . A medical ventilator system comprising
at least one sensor; a display; at least one processor; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the ventilator system to perform operations comprising:
monitoring respiratory data with at least one sensor;
detecting an active patient trigger based on an active trigger setting and the respiratory data;
detecting one or more potential patient triggers based on the one or more potential trigger settings and the respiratory data;
delivering a breath in response to the detection of the active patient trigger;
displaying, on the display, information about the active patient trigger and the one or more potential patient triggers;
comparing the active patient trigger to the one or more potential patient triggers;
determining that one of the one or more potential trigger setting reduced trigger time and decreased a number of false triggers based on the comparison; and
in response to the determination, automatically implementing the determined potential trigger setting as an active trigger setting for a subsequently delivered breath.
37 . The medical ventilator system of claim 36 , wherein the one or more potential trigger settings includes at least two different potential trigger settings.
38 . The medical ventilator system of claim 37 , wherein displaying the information comprises:
displaying an active indicator on a patient waveform in response to detecting the active patient trigger; and displaying potential indicators on the patient waveform in response to detecting each of the one or more potential patient triggers for the two different potential trigger settings.
39 . The medical ventilator system of claim 37 , wherein the operations further comprise determining difference statistics based on the comparison of the active patient trigger to the one or more potential patient triggers, wherein the displaying information includes displaying the difference statistics for each potential patient trigger setting.
40 . The medical ventilator system of claim 37 , wherein:
