Abstract

The present disclosure relates to systems and processes for limiting notifications on an electronic device. In one example process, data representing a user input can be received by an electronic device. The data representing the user input can include touch data from the touch-sensitive device, ambient light data from an ambient light sensor, intensity data from a contact intensity sensor, and/or motion data from one or more motion sensors. Based on the data, it can be determined whether the user input is a cover gesture over a touch-sensitive display of the electronic device. In response to determining that the user input is a cover gesture over the touch-sensitive display, the electronic device can be put into a DND mode for a predetermined amount of time. While in the DND mode, the electronic device can cease to output some or all notifications.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . An electronic device, comprising:
 one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
 detecting an alert triggering event;
 in response to detecting the alert triggering event, presenting an alert that includes one or more visual elements and one or more non-visual elements;
 while presenting the alert that includes one or more visual elements and one or more non-visual elements, detecting a cover gesture;
 in response to detecting the cover gesture, ceasing to present the one or more non-visual elements of the alert while continuing to present the one or more visual elements of the alert.

         3 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the alert triggering event is an incoming phone call.

         4 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the alert triggering event is an incoming message.

         5 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more non-visual elements of the alert include one or more audio elements.

         6 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more non-visual elements of the alert include one or more haptic elements.

         7 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more non-visual elements of the alert include a ringing noise.

         8 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more visual elements of the alert include text.

         9 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more visual elements of the alert include an image.

         10 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein detecting the cover gesture includes detecting a threshold amount of motion of the electronic device within a predetermined length of time after the alert triggering event.

         11 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein detecting the cover gesture includes detecting touch at a threshold amount of a touch-sensitive surface.

         12 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device, the one or more programs including instructions for:
 detecting an alert triggering event; in response to detecting the alert triggering event, presenting an alert that includes one or more visual elements and one or more non-visual elements; while presenting the alert that includes one or more visual elements and one or more non-visual elements, detecting a cover gesture; in response to detecting the cover gesture, ceasing to present the one or more non-visual elements of the alert while continuing to present the one or more visual elements of the alert.

         13 . A method, comprising:
 at an electronic device:
 detecting an alert triggering event;
 in response to detecting the alert triggering event, presenting an alert that includes one or more visual elements and one or more non-visual elements;
 while presenting the alert that includes one or more visual elements and one or more non-visual elements, detecting a cover gesture;
 in response to detecting the cover gesture, ceasing to present the one or more non-visual elements of the alert while continuing to present the one or more visual elements of the alert.
