Abstract

A computer system displays a user interface with one or more user interface elements and a background element. In response to detecting an input directed to the user interface: if the input is directed to a respective element of the one or more user interface elements and meets first input threshold criteria, the computer system performs an operation associated with the respective element; if the input is directed to the respective element and does not meet the first input threshold criteria, the computer system forgoes performing the operation associated with the respective element; if the input is directed to the background element and meets second input threshold criteria, the computer system changes an appearance of the background element; and, if the input is directed to the background element and does not meet the second input threshold criteria, the computer system forgoes changing the appearance of the background element.

         4 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the respective element is an affordance of a camera function of the computer system, and performing the operation associated with the respective element includes displaying a camera application user interface for the camera function.

         5 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the one or more input devices include a touch-sensitive surface, and the input directed to the respective user interface is a touch input detected via the touch-sensitive surface.

         6 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein changing the appearance of the background user interface element includes displaying an animation of the background user interface element.

         7 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein the one or more programs include instructions that, when executed by the computer system, cause the computer system to display the animation of the background user interface element while the input continues to be detected.

         8 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 6 , wherein displaying the animation of the background user interface element includes continuing displaying the animation of the background user interface element after the input ceases to be detected.

         9 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the first input threshold criteria include a requirement that the input be detected for at least a threshold amount of time in order for the first input threshold criteria to be met.

         10 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the first input threshold criteria include a requirement that the input include less than a threshold amount of movement in order for the first input threshold criteria to be met.

         11 . A computer system, comprising:
 a display device; one or more input devices; one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
 displaying a respective user interface that includes one or more user interface elements and a background user interface element distinct from the one or more user interface elements;
 detecting an input directed to the respective user interface;
 in response to detecting the input directed to the respective user interface:
 in accordance with a determination that the input is directed to a respective element of the one or more user interface elements and meets first input threshold criteria, performing an operation associated with the respective element;
 in accordance with a determination that the input is directed to the respective element of the one or more user interface elements and does not meet the first input threshold criteria, forgoing performing the operation associated with the respective element;
 in accordance with a determination that the input is directed to the background user interface element and meets second input threshold criteria, changing an appearance of the background user interface element; and
 in accordance with a determination that the input is directed to the background user interface element and does not meet the second input threshold criteria, forgoing changing the appearance of the background user interface element.

         12 . The computer system of claim 11 , wherein the respective user interface is a wake screen user interface.
