Quinazolines as potassium ion channel inhibitors

Abstract

A compound of formula I wherein A, X, Y, Z, R 1 and R 24 are described herein. The compounds are useful as inhibitors of potassium channel function and in the treatment and prevention of arrhythmia, I Kur -associated disorders, and other disorders mediated by ion channel function.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A compound, wherein the compound is
                       or salt thereof.   
     
     
         2 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of  claim 1  or salt thereof. 
     
     
         3 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 2 , further comprising at least one other therapeutic agent, wherein the other therapeutic agent is selected from anti-arrhythmic agents, calcium channel blockers, anti-platelet agents, anti-hypertensive agents, anti-thrombotic/anti thrombolytic agents, anti-coagulants, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, anti-diabetic agents, thyroid mimetics, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, and cardiac glycosides. 
     
     
         4 . A method of treating arrhythmia comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of the compound of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         5 . A method of controlling heart rate comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of the compound of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         6 . A compound, wherein the compound is
                       or salt thereof.   
     
     
         7 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound of  claim 6  or salt thereof. 
     
     
         8 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 7 , further comprising at least one other therapeutic agent, wherein the other therapeutic agent is selected from anti-arrhythmic agents, calcium channel blockers, anti-platelet agents, anti-hypertensive agents, anti-thrombotic/anti thrombolytic agents, anti-coagulants, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, anti-diabetic agents, thyroid mimetics, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, and cardiac glycosides. 
     
     
         9 . A method of treating arrhythmia comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of the compound of  claim 6 . 
     
     
         10 . A method of controlling heart rate comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of the compound of  claim 6 .
