Abstract

A system and method provide efficient, secure and fast automation of order processing. The method includes initiating an order by wirelessly receiving data from a personal digital key (PDK). The method also includes receiving a biometric input and confirming the initiation of the order by authenticating the biometric input. In response to authenticating the biometric input, the order is processed. In another embodiment, the method of further includes automatically initiating an order completion by wirelessly receiving data from a PDK. The method further includes receiving a biometric input and confirming the order completion by authenticating the biometric input. In response to authenticating the biometric input, the order is completed. In yet another embodiment, the method further includes processing rewards based on the order.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer-implemented method for electronic order processing, comprising:
 detecting that a portable electronic device associated with a user is located within a proximity zone of a reader device associated with a merchant; responsive to detecting that the portable electronic device associated with the user is located within the proximity zone of the reader device associated with the merchant, wirelessly receiving an identification code from the portable electronic device and authenticating the portable electronic device based on the identification code; responsive to authenticating the portable electronic device, automatically acquiring a biometric input from the user associated with the portable electronic device; performing a biometric authentication of the biometric input against a valid biometric profile; and responsive to the biometric authentication of the biometric input against the valid biometric profile being successful, automatically fulfilling an order associated with the user at the merchant.

         2 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 responsive to the biometric authentication of the biometric input against the valid biometric profile being successful, wirelessly receiving a customer profile information and payment information associated with the user from the portable electronic device.

         3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 2 , wherein the customer profile information includes one or more of a customer name, a customer picture, a first list of frequently visited merchants, a second list of favorite orders associated with each of the frequently visited merchants, an address, and a telephone number.

         4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the identification code uniquely associates the portable electronic device with the user.

         5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the identification code uniquely identifies the portable electronic device.

         6 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 responsive to detecting that the portable electronic device associated with the user is located within the proximity zone of the reader device associated with the merchant, sending a request for the valid biometric profile of the user; and wirelessly receiving the valid biometric profile of the user from the portable electronic device over a secure communication channel.

         7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the biometric input is automatically acquired using at least one from a group of a fingerprint scan, a retinal scan, an iris scan, a facial scan, a palm scan, a DNA analysis, a signature analysis, and a voice analysis.

         8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the order associated with the user is a favorite order.

         9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein automatically fulfilling the order associated with the user at the merchant comprises:
 retrieving a list of favorite orders associated with the user during past visits to the merchant; displaying the list of favorite orders; and receiving a selection of the order from the list of favorite orders.

         10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein automatically fulfilling the order associated with the user at the merchant comprises:
 retrieving multiple methods of payment associated with the user; displaying the multiple methods of payment; and receiving a selection of a payment method from the multiple methods of payment.

         11 . A system for electronic order processing, the system comprising:
 a processor; a memory including instructions that, when executed by the processor causes the system to perform operations including:
 detecting that a portable electronic device associated with a user is located within a proximity zone of a reader device associated with a merchant;
 responsive to detecting that the portable electronic device associated with the user is located within the proximity zone of the reader device associated with the merchant, wirelessly receiving an identification code from the portable electronic device and authenticating the portable electronic device based on the identification code;
 responsive to authenticating the portable electronic device, automatically acquiring a biometric input from the user associated with the portable electronic device;
 performing a biometric authentication of the biometric input against a valid biometric profile; and
 responsive to the biometric authentication of the biometric input against the valid biometric profile being successful, automatically fulfilling an order associated with the user at the merchant.

         12 . The system of claim 11 , further comprising:
 responsive to the biometric authentication of the biometric input against the valid biometric profile being successful, wirelessly receiving a customer profile information and payment information associated with the user from the portable electronic device.

         13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the customer profile information includes one or more of a customer name, a customer picture, a list of frequently visited merchants, a list of favorite orders associated with each of the frequently visited merchants, an address, and a telephone number.

         14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the identification code uniquely associates the portable electronic device with the user.

         15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the identification code uniquely identifies the portable electronic device.

         16 . The system of claim 11 , further comprising:
 responsive to detecting that the portable electronic device associated with the user is located within the proximity zone of the reader device associated with the merchant, sending a request for the valid biometric profile of the user; and wirelessly receiving the valid biometric profile of the user from the portable electronic device over a secure communication channel.

         17 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the biometric input is automatically acquired using at least one from a group of a fingerprint scan, a retinal scan, an iris scan, a facial scan, a palm scan, a DNA analysis, a signature analysis, and a voice analysis.

         18 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the order associated with the user is a favorite order.

         19 . The system of claim 11 , wherein automatically fulfilling the order associated with the user at the merchant comprises:
 retrieving a list of favorite orders associated with the user during past visits to the merchant; displaying the list of favorite orders; and receiving a selection of the order from the list of favorite orders.
