Abstract

Apparatuses, methods and systems for unlocking a tracking apparatus that is affixed to an asset are disclosed herein. In one example, a method of unlocking a tracking apparatus that is affixed to an asset is provided. The tracking apparatus may comprise an electronic tag electronically coupled to a securing component comprising an actuating element. The method may comprise: receiving asset information associated with the tracking apparatus; generating and storing a secure machine-readable code in conjunction with the asset information; in response to receiving a request to unlock the tracking apparatus, determining whether a received input corresponds with the stored secure machine-readable code; and providing an indication to cause an electronic reader in electronic communication with the tracking apparatus to trigger deactivating the actuating element.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system for managing an asset comprises:
 a tracking apparatus affixed to the asset; a computing entity; and one or more electronic readers, where the one or more electronic readers establish a connection with the computing entity, wherein the one or more electronic readers are configured to:
 obtain asset information from the tracking apparatus;
 transmit an authentication request to the computing entity;
 receive a secure code in response to transmitting the authentication request; and
 determine whether the secure code matches a user input to provide a control indication or a signal to trigger deactivation of the tracking apparatus.

         2 . The system for managing an asset of claim 1 , wherein the computing entity transmits an indication confirming whether authentication is successful to the one or more electronic readers.

         3 . The system for managing an asset of claim 2 , wherein in an instance in which the authentication is not successful, the one or more electronic readers provide an alert to a user.

         4 . The system for managing an asset of claim 1 , wherein the tracking apparatus further comprises a display element, and wherein the tracking apparatus is configured to display at least a portion of the asset information via the display element.

         5 . The system for managing an asset of claim 4 , wherein the display element comprises an electronic ink display.

         6 . The system for managing an asset of claim 5 , wherein the tracking apparatus further comprises a power harvesting element configured to store energy obtained from an RFID reader for operations of the tracking apparatus.

         7 . The system for managing an asset of claim 1 , wherein the user input is provided via a mobile application executing on a user computing entity.

         8 . The system for managing an asset of claim 1 , wherein the secure machine-readable code comprises a one-time password (OTP) or QR code or pass-key.

         9 . The system for managing an asset of claim 1 , wherein the tracking apparatus comprises an electromagnetic lock or digital lock.

         10 . The system for managing an asset of claim 1 , wherein the asset information comprises passenger information, flight information, or a destination.

         11 . A method for deactivating a tracking apparatus that is affixed to an asset, the tracking apparatus comprising an electronic tag electronically coupled to an actuating element, the method comprising:
 obtaining asset information from the electronic tag; transmitting an authentication request to receive a secure machine-readable code; in response to receiving the secure machine-readable code, determining whether a received input corresponds with the secure machine-readable code; and providing a control indication to trigger deactivation of the actuating element.

         12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein transmitting an indication confirming whether authentication is successful to the one or more electronic readers.

         13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein providing an alert to a user in an instance in which the authentication is not successful.

         14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the tracking apparatus further comprises a display element, and wherein the tracking apparatus is configured to display at least a portion of the asset information via the display element.

         15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the display element comprises an electronic ink display.

         16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the tracking apparatus further comprises a power harvesting element configured to store energy obtained from an RFID reader for operations of the tracking apparatus.

         17 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the user input is provided via a mobile application executing on a user computing entity.

         18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the secure machine-readable code comprises a one-time password (OTP) or QR code or pass-key.

         19 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the tracking apparatus comprises an electromagnetic lock or digital lock.

         20 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the asset information comprises passenger information, flight information, or a destination.
