Abstract

A joint compound pan assembly includes an elongate pan having a concavely arcuate bottom side to facilitate joint compound to be efficiently scooped from the elongate pan. A bolt extends downwardly from the elongate pan and a handle with a well threadably receives the bolt. The handle is textured to enhance gripping the handle. A compressible disk is positioned around handle and abuts the bottom side of the elongate pan to enhance comfort for the user.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A joint compound pan assembly for containing joint compound being applied to gypsum board, said assembly comprising:
a pan, said pan having a first end, a second end and an outer wall extending between said first end and said second end, said pan being elongated between said first end and said second end, an upper surface of said outer wall having a parabolic cross-sectional shape perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said pan such that said upper surface of said outer wall of said pan is smoothly and concavely arcuate wherein said pan is configured to facilitate joint compound to be scooped out of said pan without encountering a line formed by a junction of intersecting faces of the pan; a bolt being coupled to and extending downwardly from said outer wall of said pan; a handle having a well extending into said handle, said well insertably receiving said bolt for attaching said handle to said bolt, said handle having a circular cross-sectional outer circumference perpendicular to a central longitudinal axis of said handle, wherein an outside surface of said handle has a plurality of ridges such that said handle is textured wherein said outside surface is configured to enhance gripping said handle; and a disk being positioned around said handle, said disk being comprised of a resiliently compressible material wherein said disk is configured to enhance comfort for a user.

2 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
said outer wall has a top edge defining an opening into said pan, said bottom side being concavely arcuate with respect to said top edge, each of said first end and said second end having an upper edge being aligned with said top edge of said outer wall; and said bolt has an outer surface, said outer surface being threaded, said bolt being centrally positioned between said first end and said second end of said pan, said bolt being positioned on an apex of said outer wall.

3 . The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein said handle has an upper end, a lower end and said outside surface extending between said upper end and said lower end, said well extending into said upper end, said well having a bounding surface, said bounding surface being threaded, said bounding surface threadably engaging said outer surface of said bolt.

         4 . (canceled)

5 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said disk has a bottom surface and a top surface, said disk having a hole extending through said bottom surface and said top surface, said hole being centrally positioned on said disk, said hole insertably receiving said handle such that said disk is positioned against said outer wall of said pan when said handle is threaded onto said bolt.

6 . A joint compound pan assembly for containing joint compound being applied to gypsum board, said assembly comprising:
a pan, said pan having a first end, a second end and an outer wall extending between said first end and said second end, said pan being elongated between said first end and said second end, an upper surface of said outer wall having a parabolic cross-sectional shape perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said pan such that said upper surface of said outer wall of said pan is smoothly and concavely arcuate wherein said pan is configured to facilitate joint compound to be scooped out of said pan without encountering a line formed by a junction of intersecting, faces of the pan, said outer wall having a top edge defining an opening into said pan, said pan being elongated between said first end and said second end, said upper surface of said outer wall of said pan being concavely arcuate with respect to said top edge, each of said first end and said second end having an upper edge being aligned with said top edge of said outer wall; a bolt being coupled to and extending downwardly from said outer wall of said pan, said bolt having an outer surface, said outer surface being threaded, said bolt being centrally positioned between said first end and said second end of said pan, said bolt being positioned on an apex of said outer wall of said pan; a handle having a well extending into said handle, said well insertably receiving said bolt for attaching said handle to said bolt, said handle having an upper end, a lower end and an outside surface extending between said upper end and said lower end, said well extending into said upper end, said well having a bounding surface, said bounding surface being threaded, said bounding surface threadably engaging said outer surface of said bolt, said handle having a circular cross-sectional outer circumference perpendicular to a central longitudinal axis of said handle, wherein an outside surface of said handle has a plurality of ridges such that said outside surface is configured to enhance gripping said handle; and a disk being positioned around said handle, said disk being comprised of a resiliently compressible material wherein said disk is configured to enhance comfort for a user, said disk having a bottom surface and a top surface, said disk having a hole extending through said bottom surface and said top surface, said hole being centrally positioned on said disk, said hole insertably receiving said handle such that said disk is positioned against said outer wall of said pan when said handle is threaded onto said bolt.
