Abstract

A nozzle member for retaining an electrode within an electrosurgery handpiece/pencil that includes a first hollow tubular member, a second hollow tubular member having a smaller diameter than the first hollow tubular member, and a rib member that connects the first hollow tubular member to the second hollow tubular member so that the second hollow tubular member is positioned completely outside of the first hollow tubular member.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A nozzle member for retaining an electrode within an electrosurgery pencil comprising:
a first hollow tubular member; a second hollow tubular member having a smaller diameter than said first hollow tubular member; and a rib member connecting the first hollow tubular member to the second hollow tubular member such that said second hollow tubular member is positioned completely outside of said first hollow tubular member wherein the rib member includes a slot having an open end which opens into an interior of said second hollow tubular member.

2 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein said second hollow tubular member has a slit located along its length.

3 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein said rib member comprises a generally triangular shape having a rounded edge that is longer than a diameter of said second hollow tubular member.

4 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein the rib member is connected along an entire length of said second hollow tubular member.

5 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein a diameter of the first hollow tubular member is at least twice the diameter of the second hollow tubular member.

6 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein a length of the rib member is at least as long as a length of the second hollow tubular member.

7 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein the rib member is attached to the second hollow tubular member along a length of the second hollow tubular member.

8 . The nozzle member of claim 7 wherein the rib member is attached to an end of the first hollow tubular member.

9 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein an empty space exists between an end of the first hollow tubular member and an end of the second hollow tubular member.

10 . The nozzle member of claim 1 wherein the slot is contained along an entire length of a top of the rib member and the second hollow tubular member comprises a slit along an entire length of the second hollow tubular member.

11 . A nozzle member for retaining an electrode within an electrosurgery pencil comprising:
a first hollow tubular member; a second hollow tubular member having a smaller diameter than said first hollow tubular member; and a rib member connecting the first hollow tubular member to the second hollow tubular member wherein the rib member comprises a generally triangular shape having a narrow top and a rounded bottom wider than the narrow top wherein the narrow top has a slot contained therein along its entire length.

12 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein said second hollow tubular member has a slit located along its length.

13 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein the rounded edge of the rib member is longer in length than a diameter of said second hollow tubular member.

14 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein the slot in the rib member is in communication with an interior of said second hollow tubular member.

15 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein a diameter of the first hollow tubular member is at least twice the diameter of the second hollow tubular member.

16 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein the second hollow tubular member is positioned completely outside of the first hollow tubular member.

17 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein the rib member is attached to an end of the first hollow tubular member.

18 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein an empty space exists between an end of the first hollow tubular member and an end of the second hollow tubular member.

19 . The nozzle member of claim 11 wherein the slot is contained along an entire length of the narrow top of the rib member and the second hollow tubular member comprises a slit along an entire length of the second hollow tubular member.

20 . The nozzle member of claim 12 wherein the slot and the slit are in a perpendicular relationship to one another.
