Systems and methods for a video sharing service within controlled environments

Abstract

A system for a video sharing service for inmates in correctional facilities is disclosed. The system includes an inmate device of an inmate, a database storing inmate profiles, and a video sharing server configured to receive a registration request from the inmate device for registration of an inmate for the video sharing service, the registration request including user credentials of the inmate, retrieve an inmate profile of the inmate from the database, authenticate the inmate based on the user credentials and the inmate profile, create an account for the inmate for the video sharing service in response to authentication of the inmate, receive an upload request to upload a video from the inmate device, analyze the video for restricted content, and assign a rating to the video based on the analysis.

         2 . A method for video sharing services for inmates within a plurality of correctional facilities, allowing inmates to upload video content via a video sharing server, the method comprising:
 receiving, from an inmate, a request to upload a video on the video sharing server;   analyzing, by the video sharing server, video content of the video requested to be uploaded, wherein the analysis comprises determining a level of restricted content in the video;   assigning, by the video sharing server, a rating to the video based on the analysis;   determining, if the rating of the video is below a predefined threshold value; and   in response to determining that the rating of the video is above the predefined threshold value, flagging the video for review by one or more employees of the correctional facility.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising uploading video content comprising educational videos and lecture videos of different subjects for educating the inmates in the correctional facility. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising analyzing the video content using image processing, machine learning models and pattern recognition techniques to determine whether the video includes restricted content. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , further comprising matching the video content to restricted information in a data store. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising withholding a video from being uploaded to the video sharing server with a rating greater than the predefined threshold value. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising determining one or more of words, phrases, or names to restrict the inmate's search based on personal information in the profile of the inmate. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , further comprising parsing the profile of inmate to identify personal information of the inmate including at least one of gang affiliations, previous incidents with other inmates or correctional facility employees, and legal personnel of the inmate. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 4 , further comprising transmitting to an inmate device, search results from the search request, in response determining no restricted search terms in the search request. 
     
     
         10 . A method for video sharing services for inmates within a plurality of correctional facilities, allowing inmates to access video content from a video sharing server, the method comprising:
 receiving, by a video sharing server, a request from an inmate to view a video published by the video sharing server;   retrieving, by the video sharing server, an inmate profile associated with the inmate;   parsing the inmate profile to identify a type of restricted content for the inmate wherein the parsing comprises:
 identifying personal information of the inmate including gang affiliations, previous incidents with other inmates and determining at least one of words, phrases, or names to restrict the inmate from searching; 
 identifying restricted search terms in a search request based on the inmate profile; 
 in response to identifying at least one restricted search term in the search request from the inmate, transmitting a notification to an inmate device indicating that the inmate is restricted from searching for the at least one restricted search term; 
 determining whether a requested video includes content that the inmate is restricted from viewing; and 
 restricting the inmate from accessing the video if the video includes restricted content based on the inmate profile. 
   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising authenticating the inmate based on the viewing request and the inmate profile. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising comparing a rating of the requested video content to rating values of videos that the inmate is permitted to view. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising determining whether the inmate is permitted to view the requested video based on the comparing. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising blocking an inmate's device from accessing a requested video if the rating of the video content is higher than the rating value of the video that the inmate is permitted to view. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising restricting the inmate device from transmitting additional search requests including the restricted search term. 
     
     
         16 . An inmate video sharing system for inmates within a plurality of correctional facilities, the system comprising:
 a registration module, configured to receive a registration request from an inmate at a correctional facility for using a video sharing service; and   a video sharing server configured to;
 receive from an inmate, a request to upload a video on the video sharing server; 
 analyze video content of the video requested to be uploaded, wherein the analysis includes determining a level of restricted content in the video; 
 assign a rating to the video based on the analysis; 
 determine if the rating of the video is below a predefined threshold value; 
 flag the video for review by one or more employees of the correctional facility in response to determining that the rating of the video is above the predefined threshold value. 
   
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the video sharing server is further configured to analyze the video content using image processing, machine learning models and pattern recognition techniques to determine whether the video includes restricted content. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the video sharing server is further configured to match the video content to restricted information in a data store. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the video sharing server is further configured to determine one or more of words, phrases, or names to restrict the inmate from searching for based on personal information in the profile of the inmate. 
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the video sharing server is further configured to parse the profile of the inmate to identify personal information of the inmate including at least one of gang affiliations, previous incidents with other inmates or correctional facility employees, and legal personnel of the inmate. 
     
     
         21 . The system of  claim 16 , wherein the video sharing server is further configured to restrict the inmate from uploading videos to the video sharing server with a rating greater than the predefined threshold value.
