Systems and Methods for Publishing and/or Sharing Media Presentations over a Network

Abstract

In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, systems and methods for publishing and/or sharing media presentations over a network comprise communicating with a user and one or more distribution channels via the network, gathering media resources based on user input, creating a media presentation with the media resources based on user input, and publishing the media presentation by distributing the media presentation to the one or more distribution channels via the network. In one aspect, publishing comprises directly emailing the media presentation to one or more other users via the network. In another aspect, publishing comprises providing a link to one or more other users via the network for direct access to the media presentation. In still another aspect, publishing comprises obtaining and embedding source code for the media presentation in a web page associated with one or more of the distribution channels via the network.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 receiving, via a user interface displayed by a computing device, user input to select a video to share to a channel of a social network;   displaying, via the user interface, editing tools for editing the video;   receiving, via the user interface, user input to edit the video using at least one of the editing tools;   displaying, via the user interface, a preview of the edited video;   receiving, via the user interface, a request to share the edited video to the channel of the social network; and   in response to receiving the request to share the edited video, sharing the edited video to the channel of the social network by saving the edited video to a database of the social network over a network, wherein sharing the edited video to the channel of the social network allows one or more users of the social network with access to the channel to access the edited video from the database and view the edited video on one or more computing devices.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the editing tools include an audio tool for adding audio to the video. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the user input to edit the video comprises user input to add the audio to the video using the audio tool. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the audio comprises at least one of a sound, song, or voice-over. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the editing tools include a text tool for adding text to the video. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the user input to edit the video comprises user input to add text to the video using the text tool. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the editing tools include a style tool to apply a style to the video, wherein the input to edit the video comprises user input to apply the style to the video using the style tool. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the style supports movement of the video. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the style comprises a kaleidoscope style. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the style comprises a picture frame style. 
     
     
         11 . A computing device comprising:
 at least one processor; and   a memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, perform operations comprising:
 receiving, via a user interface displayed by the computing device, user input to select a video to share to a channel of a social network; 
 displaying, via the user interface, editing tools for editing the video; 
 receiving, via the user interface, user input to edit the video using at least one of the editing tools; 
 displaying, via the user interface, a preview of the edited video; 
 receiving, via the user interface, a request to share the edited video to the channel of the social network; and 
 in response to receiving the request to share the edited video, sharing the edited video to the channel of the social network by saving the edited video to a database of the social network over a network, wherein sharing the edited video to the channel of the social network allows one or more users of the social network with access to the channel to access the edited video from the database and view the edited video on one or more computing devices. 
   
     
     
         12 . The computing device of  claim 11 , wherein the editing tools include an audio tool for adding audio to the video. 
     
     
         13 . The computing device of  claim 12 , wherein the user input to edit the video comprises user input to add the audio to the video using the audio tool. 
     
     
         14 . The computing device of  claim 13 , wherein the audio comprises at least one of a sound, song, or voice-over. 
     
     
         15 . The computing device of  claim 11 , wherein the editing tools include a text tool for adding text to the video. 
     
     
         16 . The computing device of  claim 15 , wherein the user input to edit the video comprises user input to add text to the video using the text tool. 
     
     
         17 . The computing device of  claim 11 , wherein the editing tools include a style tool to apply a style to the video, wherein the input to edit the video comprises user input to apply the style to the video using the style tool. 
     
     
         18 . The computing device of  claim 17 , wherein the style supports movement of the video. 
     
     
         19 . The computing device of  claim 17 , wherein the style comprises a kaleidoscope style or a picture frame style. 
     
     
         20 . One or more computer-readable storage devices having instructions stored thereon that, responsive to execution by one or more processors, perform operations comprising:
 displaying, via a user interface, editing tools for editing a video;   receiving, via the user interface, user input to edit the video using at least one of the editing tools;   displaying, via the user interface, a preview of the edited video;   receiving, via the user interface, a request to share the edited video to a channel of a social network; and   in response to receiving the request to share the edited video, sharing the edited video to the channel of the social network by saving the edited video to a database of the social network over a network, wherein sharing the edited video to the channel of the social network allows one or more users of the social network with access to the channel to access the edited video from the database and view the edited video on one or more computing devices.
