Abstract
A battery pack including a housing, a terminal block, a printed circuit board, a plurality of pouch cells assembled and connected in a stacked configuration positioned within the housing, a sensor placed on a central portion of an outermost pouch cell of the stack of the plurality of pouch cells and a battery management unit coupled to the printed circuit board and electrically coupled to the sensor.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A battery pack, comprising:
a housing; a terminal block assembly; a printed circuit board; a battery cell holder positioned within the housing, the battery cell holder including a tray; a plurality of pouch cells assembled and connected in a stacked configuration positioned within the tray; a sensor placed on a central portion of an outermost pouch cell of the stack of the plurality of pouch cells; and a battery management unit coupled to the printed circuit board and electrically coupled to the sensor.
2 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a flex sensor.
3 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a resistive sensor.
4 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the sensor is a variable resistance sensor.
5 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the sensor measures swelling of the outermost pouch cell.
6 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the battery management unit adjusts charging or discharging of the plurality of pouch cells in response to a signal from the sensor.
7 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the battery management unit terminates charging or discharging of the plurality of pouch cells in response to a signal from the sensor.
8 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the battery management unit changes thermal, voltage or current limits for charging or discharging the plurality of pouch cells in response to a signal from the sensor.
9 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of pouch cells comprises a pouch and a battery cell disposed within the pouch, the pouch having a width dimension and a length dimension, wherein the central portion is central to the width dimension and the length dimension.
10 . The battery pack, as recited in claim 1 , wherein the sensor is placed on an outer side of the outermost pouch cell of the stack of the plurality of pouch cells.
11 . A battery pack, comprising:
a housing; a terminal block assembly; a printed circuit board; a plurality of pouch cells assembled and connected in a stacked configuration positioned within the housing; a sensor placed on a central portion of an outermost pouch cell of the stack of the plurality of pouch cells; and a battery management unit coupled to the printed circuit board and electrically coupled to the sensor.
12 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the sensor is a flex sensor.
13 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the sensor is a resistive sensor.
14 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the sensor is a variable resistance sensor.
15 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the sensor measures swelling of the outermost pouch cell.
16 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the battery management unit adjusts charging or discharging of the plurality of pouch cells in response to a signal from the sensor.
17 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the battery management unit terminates charging or discharging of the plurality of pouch cells in response to a signal from the sensor.
18 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the battery management unit changes thermal, voltage or current limits for charging or discharging the plurality of pouch cells in response to a signal from the sensor.
19 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein each of the plurality of pouch cells comprises a pouch and a battery cell disposed within the pouch, the pouch having a width dimension and a length dimension, wherein the central portion is central to the width dimension and the length dimension.
20 . A battery pack, as recited in claim 11 , wherein the sensor is placed on an outer side of the outermost pouch cell of the stack of the plurality of pouch cells.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
