Abstract
The present invention is directed to a method of replacing collagen broken down during physical activity using a novel dietary supplement. The supplement composition of the present invention comprises collagen, glutamine, taurine, and, optionally, the nine essential amino acids. The uptake of collagen is enhanced using this combination of components to levels substantially near the pre-workout levels.

A dietary supplement composition comprising collagen in an amount of about 15-25 grams per serving of the composition, glutamine in an amount of about 0.5-1.5 grams per serving of the composition, and taurine in an amount of about 0.1-0.2 grams per serving of the composition, wherein a serving of the composition is 36-38 grams or 24 fluid ounces, wherein the dietary supplement composition is a ready to drink liquid or a powder formulated to be mixed with a liquid prior to administration.
2 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises at least one branched amino acid selected from the group consisting of leucine, isoleucine, valine, lysine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, histidine, methionine, and glutamine.
3 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , wherein the composition is a powder formulated to be mixed with a liquid prior to administration.
4 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , wherein the composition is a ready to drink liquid.

The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , wherein collagen is present in an amount of about 17-23 grams per serving of the composition, glutamine in an amount of about 0.75-1.25 grams per serving of the composition, and taurine in an amount of about 0.125-0.175 grams per serving of the composition.
6 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , wherein collagen is present in an amount of about 20 grams per serving of the composition, glutamine in an amount of about 0.97 grams per serving of the composition, and taurine in an amount of about 0.135 grams per serving of the composition.
7 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , wherein the composition comprises leucine and isoleucine.
8 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition further comprises powdered coconut water in an amount of about 10 to 20 weight percent of the composition.
9 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , wherein the composition further comprises electrolytes selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, calcium, bicarbonate, chloride, and phosphate.
10 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , wherein the composition comprises the nine essential amino acids in a total amount of about 6-10 grams per serving of the composition.
11 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 6 , wherein the composition comprises the nine essential amino acids in a total amount of about 8 grams per serving of the composition.
12 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , further comprising selenium.
13 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 2 , further comprising one or more of the following vitamins: Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B5, folate, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Vitamin E.
14 . The dietary supplement composition of claim 1 , further comprising at least one amino acid, wherein the amino acid profile of the composition is as follows:
