Abstract

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for transcoding and providing resources. A query is received. A resource is generated, and the resource, when processed by a client device, causes the client device to perform various operations. The operations include displaying a search result having an associated landing page and detecting user interaction with the search result. The operations include, in response to detecting user interaction with the search result, displaying a first portion of the landing page that is embedded within the resource and requesting, over a network, a second portion of the landing page. The operations include receiving the second portion of the landing page, and loading the second portion of the landing page. The generated resource is provided in response to the query.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . (canceled)

         2 . A method comprising:
 receiving, by a computing device, a search results page in response to a search query, the search results page including a search result for a document; receiving, with the search results page, a first portion of the document for rendering on a display of the computing device; detecting an interaction with the search result for the document; in response to detecting the interaction with the search result for the document, rendering the first portion of the document on the display of the computing device and obtaining a second portion of the document for rendering on the display of the computing device; and rendering the second portion of the document on the display of the computing device.

         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein:
 the first portion of the document includes above-the-fold content of the document; and the second portion of the document includes below-the-fold content of the document.

         4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the first portion of the document includes one or more elements having a fixed position property.

         5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the first portion of the document excludes at least some script content of the document.

         6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the computing device includes a mobile computing device.

         7 . The method of claim 2 , wherein script content of the document is replaced with markup language content that reproduces at least a portion of a functionality of the script content.

         8 . A system comprising:
 at least one processor; and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause at least one computing device to:
 receive, by the at least one computing device, a search results page in response to a search query, the search results page including a search result for a document;
 receive, with the search results page, a first portion of the document for rendering on a display of the at least one computing device;
 detect an interaction with the search result for the document;
 in response to detecting the interaction with the search result for the document, render the first portion of the document on the display of the at least one computing device and obtain a second portion of the document for rendering on the display of the at least one computing device; and
 render the second portion of the document on the display of the at least one computing device.

         9 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein:
 the first portion of the document includes above-the-fold content of the document; and the second portion of the document includes below-the-fold content of the document.

         10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first portion of the document includes one or more elements having a fixed position property.

         11 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first portion of the document excludes at least some script content of the document.

         12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one computing device includes a mobile computing device.

         13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein script content of the document is replaced with markup language content that reproduces at least a portion of a functionality of the script content.

         14 . A computer program product being tangibly embodied on a non-transitory computer-readable medium and including executable code that, when executed, is configured to cause at least one computing device to:
 receive, by the at least one computing device, a search results page in response to a search query, the search results page including a search result for a document; receive, with the search results page, a first portion of the document for rendering on a display of the at least one computing device; detect an interaction with the search result for the document; in response to detecting the interaction with the search result for the document, render the first portion of the document on the display of the at least one computing device and obtain a second portion of the document for rendering on the display of the at least one computing device; and render the second portion of the document on the display of the at least one computing device.

         15 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein:
 the first portion of the document includes above-the-fold content of the document; and the second portion of the document includes below-the-fold content of the document.

         16 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the first portion of the document includes one or more elements having a fixed position property.

         17 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the first portion of the document excludes at least some script content of the document.

         18 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the at least one computing device includes a mobile computing device.

         19 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein script content of the document is replaced with markup language content that reproduces at least a portion of a functionality of the script content.
