Abstract

Techniques for reducing fraud are disclosed. A transaction request is received from a user to perform a transaction using an account. In one approach, a source icon is displayed prior to executing the request. The source icon includes a graphical representation of an owner of the account. In another approach, at least one of a photograph and a voice of the user is recorded prior to executing the request. In a third approach, the user is informed that at least one of a photograph, a voice print, and location data will be taken prior to executing the transaction request.

         2 . A point of sale terminal, comprising:
 a processor configured to:
 facilitate a near field communication (NFC) transaction involving the point of sale terminal and a mobile device comprising an NFC chip, wherein completion of the transaction is based at least in part on a fraud detection analysis performed by the mobile device, and wherein the performing of the fraud detection analysis by the mobile device comprises:
 capturing, at least in part by using a camera of the mobile device, first biometric information and second biometric information of a user; and 
 based at least in part on the captured first and second biometric information, performing the fraud detection analysis, the fraud detection analysis comprising a determination of whether the user is alive; and 
 
   a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.   
     
     
         3 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 2 , wherein the first biometric information comprises a first photograph, and the second biometric information comprises a second photograph. 
     
     
         4 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 2 , wherein the fraud detection analysis comprises photographic authorization. 
     
     
         5 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 2 , wherein completion of the transaction is facilitated based at least in part on user selection of an element presented in a user interface. 
     
     
         6 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 2 , wherein a payment type associated with the transaction is visually represented in a user interface. 
     
     
         7 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 6 , wherein the payment type comprises a credit card. 
     
     
         8 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 6 , wherein a user selection of the payment type is received via the user interface. 
     
     
         9 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 2 , wherein the transaction comprises a payment. 
     
     
         10 . The point of sale terminal of  claim 2 , wherein performing the fraud detection analysis comprises performing a location-based verification. 
     
     
         11 . A method, comprising:
 facilitating a near field communication (NFC) transaction involving a point of sale terminal and a mobile device comprising an NFC chip, wherein completion of the transaction is based at least in part on a fraud detection analysis performed by the mobile device, and wherein the performing of the fraud detection analysis by the mobile device comprises:
 capturing, at least in part by using a camera of the mobile device, first biometric information and second biometric information of a user; and 
 based at least in part on the captured first and second biometric information, performing the fraud detection analysis, the fraud detection analysis comprising a determination of whether the user is alive. 
   
     
     
         12 . A mobile device, comprising:
 a near field communication (NFC) chip;   a camera;   a processor configured to:
 capture, at least in part by using the camera, first biometric information and second biometric information of a user; 
 based at least in part on the captured first and second biometric information, perform a fraud detection analysis comprising a determination of whether the user is alive; and 
 based at least in part on the fraud detection analysis, facilitate, at least in part by using the NFC chip of the mobile device, completion of a transaction involving the mobile device and a point of sale terminal; and 
   a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.   
     
     
         13 . The mobile device of  claim 12 , wherein the first biometric information comprises a first photograph, and the second biometric information comprises a second photograph. 
     
     
         14 . The mobile device of  claim 12 , wherein the fraud detection analysis comprises photographic authorization. 
     
     
         15 . The mobile device of  claim 12 , wherein completion of the transaction is facilitated based at least in part on user selection of an element presented in a user interface. 
     
     
         16 . The mobile device of  claim 12 , wherein the processor is further configured to visually represent, in a user interface, a payment type associated with the transaction. 
     
     
         17 . The mobile device of  claim 16 , wherein the payment type comprises a credit card. 
     
     
         18 . The mobile device of  claim 16 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive, via the user interface, a user selection of the payment type. 
     
     
         19 . The mobile device of  claim 12 , wherein the transaction comprises a payment. 
     
     
         20 . The mobile device of  claim 12 , wherein performing the fraud detection analysis comprises performing a location-based verification. 
     
     
         21 . A method, comprising:
 capturing, at least in part by using a camera, first biometric information and second biometric information of a user;   based at least in part on the captured first and second biometric information, performing a fraud detection analysis comprising a determination of whether the user is alive; and   based at least in part on the fraud detection analysis, facilitating, at least in part by using an NFC chip of a mobile device, completion of a transaction involving the mobile device and a point of sale terminal.
