Article for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision system
Abstract
An article for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision system includes an aerosol-generating component circumscribed by a first wrapping material including a cellulose based material. The cellulose based material can have a basis weight greater than about 40 grams per square metre. There is also described a rod of aerosol-generating material having a length of less than 30 mm and wrapped in a first wrapping material and an outer wrapping material which extends at least partially over the rod of aerosol-generating material. There is also described a rod of aerosol-generating material wrapped in a first wrapping material and an outer wrapping material which extends over the rod of aerosol-generating material by a distance of between about 30% and 80% of the length of the rod of aerosol-generating material. A non-combustible aerosol provision system is also described.

An article for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision system, the article comprising an aerosol-generating component circumscribed by a first wrapping material comprising a cellulose based material, wherein said cellulose based material has a basis weight greater than about 40 grams per square meter.
2 . The article of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating component comprises a plurality of strands or strips of aerosol-generating material.
3 . The article of claim 1 , wherein said first wrapping material comprises a moisture impermeable first wrapping material.
4 . The article of claim 3 , wherein said moisture impermeable first wrapping material is a paper backed aluminum foil wrapper.
5 . The article of claim 1 , wherein said first wrapping material has a basis weight greater than about 45 gsm, or greater than about 50 gsm.
6 . The article of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of said aerosol-generating component is wrapped in an outer wrapping material that at least partially overlaps the first wrapping material and the aerosol generating component.
7 . The article of claim 6 , wherein said outer wrapping material overlaps the first wrapping material by at least 3 mm, or at least 5 mm, or at least 6 mm.
8 . The article of claim 6 , wherein the outer wrapping material overlaps the first wrapping material by between about 20% and about 80%, or between about 30% and about 80% or between about 40% and about 80% of the length of the first wrapping material.
9 . The article of claim 6 , wherein said outer wrapping material has a thickness of at least 20 microns, or at least 25 microns, or at least 30 microns.
10 . The article of claim 6 , wherein said outer wrapping material has a basis weight of about 20 gsm, or about 25 gsm, or about 30 gsm.
11 . The article of claim 6 , wherein said outer wrapping material comprises tipping paper.
12 . The article of claim 1 , wherein the article is at least 46 mm in length, or in the range 46 mm to 60 mm in length or 46 mm to 52 mm in length, or about 48 mm.
13 . The article of claim 1 to 12 , wherein the article is for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision device comprising an aerosol generator for insertion into the aerosol generating material/consumable.
14 . The article of claim 13 , wherein the article is configured to receive at least a portion of the aerosol generator.
15 . The article of claim 14 , wherein the article is configured such that, in use, when the aerosol generator is received by the article, the aerosol generator is in direct contact with at least a portion of the aerosol generating material.
16 . The article of claim 13 , wherein the article is configured such that, in use, insertion of the aerosol generator into the article increases the packing density of the aerosol generating material.
17 . The article of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol-generating component has a length of less than about 20 mm, less than about 18 mm, less than about 15 mm or less than about 13 mm.
18 . The article of claim 1 , wherein substantially all of the aerosol generating component is formed from sheet material which is folded and/or slit longitudinally to form the aerosol generating component.
19 . An article for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision system, the article comprising an aerosol-generating component comprising a rod of aerosol-generating material, wherein said rod of aerosol-generating material has a length of less than 30 mm and is wrapped in a first wrapping material, and wherein said rod of aerosol-generating material is wrapped in an outer wrapping material which extends at least partially over the rod of aerosol-generating material.

An article for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision system, the article comprising an aerosol-generating component comprising a rod of aerosol-generating material, wherein said rod of aerosol-generating material is wrapped in a first wrapping material, and wherein said rod of aerosol-generating material is wrapped in an outer wrapping material which extends over the rod of aerosol-generating material by a distance of between about 30% and 80% of the length of the rod of aerosol-generating material.
21 . The article of claim 19 , wherein the rod of aerosol generating material comprises a plurality of strands or strips of aerosol-generating material.
22 . The article of claim 19 , wherein said first wrapping material comprises a moisture impermeable first wrapping material.
23 . The article of claim 22 , wherein said moisture impermeable first wrapping material is an aluminum foil wrapper.
24 . The article of claim 19 , wherein said first wrapping material has a basis weight greater than about 40 gsm, or greater than about 45 gsm, or greater than about 50 gsm.
25 . The article of claim 19 , wherein said outer wrapping material overlaps the first wrapping material by a maximum of 10 mm, or a maximum of 8 mm or a maximum of 6 mm.
26 . The article of claim 19 , wherein said outer wrapping material has a thickness of at least 20 microns, or at least 25 microns, or at least 30 microns.
27 . The article of claim 19 , wherein said outer wrapping material has a basis weight of about 20 gsm, or about 25 gsm, or about 30 gsm.
28 . The article of claim 19 , wherein said outer wrapping material comprises tipping paper.
29 . The article of claim 19 , wherein the article is at least 46 mm in length, or in the range 46 mm to 60 mm in length or 46 mm to 52 mm in length, or about 48 mm.
30 . The article of claim 19 , wherein the rod of aerosol-generating material has a length of less than about 20 mm, less than about 18 mm, less than about 15 mm or less than about 13 mm.
31 . The article of claim 19 , wherein the article is for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision device comprising an aerosol generator for insertion into the aerosol generating material/consumable.
32 . The article claim 31 , wherein the article is configured to receive at least a portion of the aerosol generator.
33 . The article of claim 32 , wherein the article is configured such that, in use, when the aerosol generator is received by the article, the aerosol generator is in direct contact with at least a portion of the aerosol generating material.
34 . The article of claim 31 , wherein the article is configured such that, in use, insertion of the aerosol generator into the article increases the packing density of the aerosol generating material.
35 . The article of claim 19 to 34 , wherein substantially all of the aerosol generating material is formed from sheet material which is folded and/or slit longitudinally to form the rod of aerosol generating material.

The article of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generating material comprises a sheet or shredded sheet of aerosolizable material comprising tobacco material, an aerosol-former material and a binder, wherein the sheet or shredded sheet has a thickness of at least about 100 µm and an area density of from about 100 g/m 2 to about 250 g/m 2 .
37 . The article to of claim 36 , wherein the aerosolizable material comprises a filler.
38 . A non-combustible aerosol provision system, comprising a non-combustible aerosol provision device, and an article comprising
an aerosol-generating component circumscribed by a first wrapping material comprising a cellulose based material, wherein said cellulose based material has a basis weight greater than about 40 grams per square meter.
