Abstract

Certain embodiments of the present invention can detect and evaluate new messages at a coordinating device to determine whether to forward the message to a wearable device. In this manner, a server can reduce a number of devices that it is to communicate a message to, while still allowing the message to be availed to multiple devices. Further, certain embodiments relate to coordinating alerts (e.g., audio or haptic alerts) to reduce redundant alerts of a single message amongst spatially clustered devices.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An electronic device that is communication with a mobile device, comprising:
one or more processors; and one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors of an electronic device, the one or more programs including instructions for: receiving a message; and in response to receiving the message at the electronic device:
in accordance with a determination that a state of the electronic device does not satisfy a set of do-not-disturb criteria, presenting an alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device; and
in accordance with a determination that the state of the electronic device satisfies the set of do-not-disturb criteria:
suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device,
wherein the alert is also suppressed at the mobile device based on the determination that the state of the electronic device satisfies the set of do-not-disturb criteria.

2 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein a first criterion of the set of do-not-disturb criteria is satisfied when the message is received during a predefined time period.

3 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein a second criterion of the set of do-not-disturb criteria is satisfied when the message is received when a do-not-disturb state for the electronic device is active.

4 . The electronic device of claim 3 , wherein the do-not-disturb state was configured prior to receiving the message.

5 . The electronic device of claim 3 , wherein prior to receiving the message, detecting an input for activating the do-not-disturb state for the electronic device, the one or more programs further including instructions for:
in response to detecting the input for activating the do-not-disturb state at the electronic device, sending a signal to the mobile device to activate a do-not-disturb state for the mobile device.

6 . The electronic device of claim 5 , one or more programs further including instructions for:
subsequent to suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device, detecting an input for deactivating the do-not-disturb state for the electronic device; and in response to detecting the input for deactivating the do-not-disturb state at the electronic device, sending a signal to the mobile device to deactivate the do-not-disturb state for the mobile device.

7 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device includes:
forgoing outputting any audio notifications and any haptic notifications, and displaying, at the electronic device, a visual stimuli corresponding to the alert.

8 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the mobile device includes:
forgoing outputting any audio notifications and haptic notifications, and displaying, at the mobile device, a visual stimuli corresponding to the alert.

9 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device includes:
forgoing outputting any audio, visual, and haptic notifications at the electronic device.

10 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the mobile device includes:
forgoing outputting any audio, visual, and haptic notifications at the mobile device.

11 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the alert is also suppressed at the mobile device based on the determination that the state of the electronic device satisfies the set of do-not-disturb criteria.

         12 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
at an electronic device that is in communication with a mobile device:
 receiving a message; and
in response to receiving the message at the electronic device:
in accordance with a determination that a state of the electronic device does not satisfy a set of do-not-disturb criteria, presenting an alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device; and
in accordance with a determination that the state of the electronic device satisfies the set of do-not-disturb criteria:
suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device,
wherein the alert is also suppressed at the mobile device based on the determination that the state of the electronic device satisfies the set of do-not-disturb criteria.

13 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device, the one or more programs including instructions for:
receiving a message; and in response to receiving the message at the electronic device:
in accordance with a determination that a state of the electronic device does not satisfy a set of do-not-disturb criteria, presenting an alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device; and
in accordance with a determination that the state of the electronic device satisfies the set of do-not-disturb criteria:
suppressing presentation of the alert corresponding to the message at the electronic device,
wherein the alert is also suppressed at the mobile device based on the determination that the state of the electronic device satisfies the set of do-not-disturb criteria.
