Abstract

An electronic device case including a case body to encase a handheld electronic device, the case body including at least one planar surface, and one or more wings to fold into the planar surface in a first position and to extend past an edge of the at least one planar surface in a second position. The one or more wings provide handles by which a user of the handheld electronic device can support a weight of the handheld electronic device

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An accessory for a handheld electronic device, the accessory comprising:
a body configured to attach to the handheld electronic device, the body comprising a planar surface, the body being configured to attach to the handheld electronic device at the planar surface by an attachment mechanism; and a wing being shaped to extend laterally between a first wing end and a second wing end, the first wing end being hingably coupled to the body at a hinge that permits rotation of the wing about an axis of rotation, the wing being rotatable about the axis of rotation between a fully-open position and a fully-closed position, the wing including an open area between the first wing end and the second wing end.

2 . The accessory of claim 1 , the body including a sidewall forming an opening in the body, bounded by the sidewall, the opening to receive the wing when the wing is in the fully-closed position.

3 . The accessory of claim 1 , the wing being shaped to provide a handle by which a user of the handheld electronic device can support a weight of the handheld electronic device.

4 . The accessory of claim 1 , the wing being shaped to provide a stand for the handheld electronic device.

5 . The accessory of claim 1 , the wing being shaped to support a weight of the handheld electronic device when the wing is in one or more positions between the fully-open position and the fully-closed position.

6 . The accessory of claim 1 , the hinge being configured to assist the wing to support a weight of the handheld electronic device when the wing is in one or more positions between the fully-open position and the fully-closed position.

7 . The accessory of claim 1 , the wing being shaped with one or more rounded edges.

8 . The accessory of claim 1 , the wing having an exterior portion that is circular in shape.

9 . The accessory of claim 1 , wherein the open area between the first wing end and the second wing end is round in shape.

10 . The accessory of claim 1 , wherein the open area between the first wing end and the second wing end is circular in shape.

11 . The accessory of claim 1 , the body having a smaller geometric footprint than the handheld electronic device.

12 . The accessory of claim 1 , the attachment mechanism affixed to the planar surface of the body, the attachment mechanism being configured to couple the body at the planar surface with the handheld electronic device.

13 . The accessory of claim 1 , the body being round in shape.

14 . The accessory of claim 1 , the hinge being positioned at an edge of the body.

15 . The accessory of claim 1 , the hinge being positioned a particular distance from an edge of the body.

16 . The accessory of claim 1 , the attachment mechanism including at least one of: an adhesive or a hook-and-loop device.

17 . The accessory of claim 1 , the open area between the first wing end and the second wing end forming a finger opening.

18 . The accessory of claim 1 , wherein the wing is configured to extend beyond an edge of the body when in the fully-closed position.

19 . The accessory of claim 1 , wherein the wing is configured to extend short of an edge of the body when in the fully-closed position.
